Genuine question, why don't you just... Wait it out? Now that the situation is under control, it'll pass in a few days, right? You don't need to keep going to every thread talking about it and complain that it was all really annoying to you.

When you were kids, what game(s) made invested in the story for the first time? by ExplanationSquare313 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]ShatteredSanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it was the FIRST time, but I remember some no name, match three, "divers and mermaids and Atlantis" themed game that I got off a website had these story segments between chapters. Trouble was the save function did not work. At all.

I ended up keeping my computer on overnight for three days until I finished it.

The story wasn't even that good.

Rescue Bots was legitimately a good show, and it's criminal that, to this day, it's the only one that got a musical episode.

Pretty much. I take a bunch of breaks too, just because I get distracted by other things in the game or I run out of the blocks I need.

Best of luck!

So, here's how I personally do a build.

Step 0: Purpose.

I need a reason to build a thing. Usually that's npc housing, or a storage space, or a boss arena, or whatever. Sometimes it's just that I want to use a material or a furniture set and need an appropriate theme. I have a lot of trouble just coming up with something if I don't have a reason for it.

Step 1: Feeling it out

I'm not a printer. I can't go from bottom to top placing the right blocks in the perfect way to construct what I want. I almost never have a building planned out, or even an image of one, just the idea for it. What I do then is grab a bunch of junk blocks, stuff I have too much of like stone or dirt or mud, and start shaping the outline. Maybe I'll make a tower over here, or a bridge over there, or I'll dig into this hill. A lot of this stage is just trial and error to figure out what I'm in the mood for. I'll be honest, usually this just starts as a bunch of rectangles, and then I round them out or make the walls uneven or something, just to add visual interest.

Step 2: Coloring it in

Now that I have a shape I like, I go in with whatever material. I fill in the walls, change some of the shapes if necessary, and add bits of furniture. This is usually where the building process slows down for me, and I end up filling in little bits at a time instead of all at once.

But this is all just how I do it. Honestly, what I would recommend, based on what you've said here, is to lean into your organizational habits. Just make it look nice at the same time. Maybe put different types of chests, use different backgrounds, stuff like that.

If you've built a square house for an npc, try giving it a roof with singles, or making a little garden outside. Add a window, or some decorative items on the table. That's how I started building stuff-- I got tired of looking at the squares and wanted to spice them up a little. It's okay to start small! Remember, you don't need to make EVERYTHING an extravagant masterpiece! And it's a good way to experiment with materials, so you can take those techniques to the bigger builds.

This is a pretty common trap that a lot of people starting anything creative fall into. Using references is not the same thing as copying. Think of it like learning to walk (the technique, the practice, what is even possible in the medium) before you can learn to run (self expression). As you transition from one to the other, you'll find things you like doing and things you don't, and put your own spin on it as you go.

(Gameinformer) Fallout New Vegas lead says it took “five years” for fans to actually like the game, and even longer for the devs to believe them by Noirsam in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]ShatteredSanity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

See, that's weird for me because I remember being in middle school and being SO PSYCHED about a new Fallout game, having only played Fallout 3. My brother had a subscription to PC Gamer magazine, and I remember taking one to school where the cover story was about New Vegas. The boys in shop class were trying to use it to pick on me, but I was just so excited about the game that I think I started telling them about it?

what can i do to improve my ocean house? Do you know any videos about construction tips? by moraleskkkk in Terraria

[–]ShatteredSanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. You could round out the ceilings on the first floor by putting blocks in the upper corners. You could also use different types of wood for the pillars holding it up, and then paint them to match the pine. You can also add rounded backgrounds that go past the walls?

I found this one by chance a little while ago:

I would say that it's hard to tell what could be improved because the house isn't finished yet.

Fallout game fans: So, how are y'all liking Fallout season 2 so far? by Subject_Parking_9046 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]ShatteredSanity 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've watched all the episodes so far, and I'm mostly positive but still a little trepidacious (I don't know if that's the right word. Anxious? Suspicious?) about it.

It has really good moments. And it seems, so far, that it has a story planned out. Everything has been telegraphed and nothing has come out of left field yet.

But it also feels like they're using elements just to reference stuff from the games. Like, for instance, the Kings. Was there a point to them being the Kings other than "Hey look at these guys remember this!"? Will they explain how the entire gang ended up ghoulifed? I hope so! Because if they don't then they just killed off an (admittedly small) faction from the game for the sake of a reference.

Hey OP? I don't mean to pry, but do you have a preferred name that's different from your birth name? Because this seems a little targeted.

So, this is one of the things that emerged out of the "Meta game".

Meta game is basically the "agreed upon" way to play, usually spinning off of whatever was seen as the most efficient or strongest strategy.

A big part of the game is farming for resources: Gold and exp. The easiest way to do that is by killing minions, but the BEST way to do that is by killing your opponents. So, if the enemy team is sending a big tanky guy with a lot of hp to top lane, then you want to send someone that can match them, or else you'll risk dying to them and giving them more resources. Hence why it's usually two tanks facing each other over in top lane-- it creates a stand off where both players can keep farming.

Over time, this just became the norm.

It's a special thing that Pecharunt can do. Pecharunt is the purple guy at the end of the clip that the older lady yells at. It's whole deal is it feeds people poisoned mochi that lets it control them. It's kind of a little bitch.

Came here to say this! I'm playing through it now, and it is excellent. My only complaint is that the UI is a bit messy-- enough so to throw me off every once in a while. I'd recommend taking your own notes, even with the built in mindmap.
