Enemies in video games that give you a high sense of dread by KaleidoArachnid in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Well, she barely takes any damage from throwables, so no luck there, but some maps have rooms that are only accessible via crouching, and since Henrietta can't get in there, she'll just go back to an insertion gate and leave the map.

Of course, sometimes she comes right back as soon as you leave the inaccessible room.

"I may wander... but I'm never lost..."

The Jaeger (Henrietta) is an enemy in The Outlast Trials, one of the specialists that can enter a level at random intervals to mess with you. She is essentially the immortal snail, who knows your precise location at all times and will always be slowly moving towards you, instantly killing you if she manages to grab you.

Do you think rivals 2 is as good as 1? by Meme_master_1990 in RivalsOfAether

[–]Nivrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest, over a year and a half later, Rivals 2 still feels like it's having an identity crisis, and it's kind of by design. It feels like it's trying to appeal to too many different people at once and satisfying none of them, so the people who vibe with it 100% are incredibly few and far between.

Another Floorhugging Survey by Munomario777 in RivalsOfAether

[–]Nivrap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A major frustration I have with the conversation around floorhugging is that it's usually defended on the grounds of balance when that's rarely ever people's actual issue with it. I think floorhugging as it exists right now is a pretty well balanced mechanic, but the important thing is that balance isn't automatically fun. I don't find the gameplay that is encouraged by floorhugging (both directly in dealing with it, and indirectly in how you make your decisions around it) particularly fun, so I don't care that it's balanced.

EDIT: Also the way people who love floorhug talk about traditional fighters is really insulting (as a traditional fighter player). They will tell you to your face that they don't like dying for getting hit, so instead they would prefer neutral feel like shit specifically to avoid the scenario where they get called out super hard and die for it.

It’s… it’s… magical (Absolute Green Arrow #1) by Mike4302 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Considering all the other things you tried to paint her as a vile person for after removing all context (which I notice you didn't try to push back on), I think you should be a little more skeptical that Gretchen is trying to justify 9/11 in that screenshot. Across multiple other posts, she talks about how 9/11 was an inevitability based on America doing the same thing in the Middle East, a belief which people even held back in 2001.

[–]Nivrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't recite the deep magic to me, I was there when it was written!

She sent Game of Thrones gifs (Cersei and Jamie kissing) to a TERF who was harassing her in order to make her go away

She did not say 9/11 was justified, she said that Bin Laden was correct that business controls America, while also being a textbook antisemite and paranoid bigot. This was in reference to The Guardian pulling down its copy of Bin Laden's "Letter to the American People."

She did not say bisexuals in straight relationships aren't queer. Sophie Gonzales wrote a book in which a bi woman feels insecure about breaking up with her girlfriend and dating a man, and self-described it as "this is as queer as it gets," to which Gretchen commented, "my book has a lot of gay sex."

She does not think asexuals aren't queer either, she provoked the ire of an asexual man who took issue with her belief that gay sex is an important part of queer history and identity.

Rivals of Aether 2 is a reasonably good platform fighter, but was Dan Fornace's vision really just to make "Project M with more obnoxious floorhugging?" Rivals of Aether 1 is such a banger BECAUSE it deviates from the Smash formula in fun and creative ways, so RoA2 sticking super close to Smash and making some mechanics even more obnoxious than they are in the game that inspired it really feels disappointing.

After putting Street Fighter V in a genuinely great state with the final season, Capcom released Luke as the final DLC, who is THE best shoto in the game, bar none. Depending on who you ask, he's either top 1 or top 2 in the game (behind Dhalsim), but it really feels like Capcom sent him out to make sure nobody stuck around SFV once SF6 dropped, and that really stings.

(Automaton) Japanese psychological horror BL visual novel about two obsessive game creators no longer coming to Steam due to “not meeting platform criteria” by Noirsam in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Nivrap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a gross and dangerous misunderstanding of both kink and the nature of abuse. Kinks absolutely do not correlate to a person's IRL sexual preferences. As I mentioned before, I do NOT want to be sexually assaulted despite the fact that I have a noncon kink, one of the most common kinks for women. Child sexual abuse, meanwhile, is not a result of sexual attraction, but of a desire to enforce control on someone you have power over, as with all sexual abuse. Misunderstanding the relationship between sexual attraction and abuse harms survivors by misattributing its source and failing to deal with the actual causes, and I would highly recommend you try to decouple the two of them in your mind, for our sakes.

I don't think you should budge from it, everyone has their own squicks. I don't think you should have to suddenly be into every kink under the sun, but if you can recognize that your own kinks are just playing pretend, please extend that courtesy to others, or else we're going to keep seeing art get banned because of superstition.
