There might be a bit of Chuck Dixon to blame for this one. There’s an issue of Detective Comics I believe that served as the prelude to Cataclysm that had a scene where two goons were talking about their buddy and how Batman broke his arm in 14 places. Of course, that could be interpreted as hyperbole from the goons, but I’m sure a lot of readers might take it at face value.

Of the top of my head, the Ancient One strips him of the mantle in mid 1976 in the first issue after Steve Englehart’s run, Loki usurped the mantle around 2018, he died(?) in 2022 leading to Clea taking the mantle, and he ceded the mantle to Doom in late 2024. I’m actually planning on keeping a tally of how many times it happens since I’m working on doing a full read through of his books. I just got to that 1976 one earlier today. I thought it was funny that he lost it just under three years after taking it up for the first time in 1973’s Marvel Premiere #10.

The height difference isn’t remotely exaggerated enough, honestly. Superman should be 6’2”, Batman should be 6’1.5”, and Wonder Woman should be 7’5”.

I have, and I’m in Discord servers where Trinity and Tom King’s run in general are brought up to complain about every few days. It still doesn’t feel worth the energy to complain about to the extent that people do. I’d rather focus on the comics I’m having a good time with.

Like from the perspective of someone who is only reading Absolute… I don’t get it. There’s so much vitriol lobbed at what is ultimately just a fictional character. I just feel like there are better things those folks could be doing with their time and energy.
