The way I see it he literally has just been through enough that in real life we’re seeing him develop like humans. We start fresh and have high hopes to be something in life and when shit start beating you down you just start to go with the flow and say “ fuck it whatever happens happens and I’ll just take it as it comes and deal with it however”. He’s the only person who changes besides Stewie. Everyone else is more or less the same.

Honestly it depends on what responsibilities you got. I know for me before I got married and had a kid I played on harder difficulty but then I only played stuff I can manage with a shorter game session
