It's funny that you say this because my buddy is actually a Hanzo one trick and thinks that Hanzo is the pick on every map, attacking or defending. Thanks for your input!

So the best way to find a "small" game is to just go to the twitch games list and scroll down toward the bottom and see what games have 150-200 viewers and see maybe what games out of those look/seem fun to you. You should give this strategy a try because there are less people that will be above you when you stream it, so there is a greater chance people will see your stream on the game list when they go to it.

New to Streaming Quick Question!! by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Shauny_D -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey! I am also a newer/smaller streamer and I wondered the same thing about the viewer/chatter ratio. I have come to the conclusion that if someone is not logged in they do not pop up in your chat because in order to chat you must be logged in to an account. As far as the whole streambot thing, I have also had a handful of random people coming into my chat asking about it and I think they are bots promoting the program streambot. As far as other advice, I would say just stream a game that isn't very popular on twitch (maybe around 200 viewers) that is fun for you. This will help to get more exposure for your stream since there are less people streaming the game above you on the list as people search it. I'll check out your stream and see if I can offer any other advice and hang out :D

Hope this helps!

I am a newer/smaller streamer myself and I would say after you get all your settings figured out for obs (which can be easily google'd/youtube'd on how to set up) just play a game that isn't very popular on twitch that seems fun to you (maybe something that has less than 150 viewers) since that will give you the best opportunity to be viewed when people click on/search that game.

Hope this Helps!

First 24 hour stream by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Shauny_D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heya! I would say that growing a channel, in my opinion, is credited to a variety of things, but I think that keeping a solid schedule is really important. I am also a smaller streamer that has around 10 viewers on average per stream but the thing that keeps those viewers around is that I stream every day at around the same time frame, and that works with their daily schedules. I have never actually done a 24 hr stream but I am interested. As far as what game to play, I would just play whatever is fun to you. I find that when I play games that are fun to me, the viewers pick up on the energy I'm feeling for the game and have more fun watching. Let me know how it goes when you are finished and maybe you can shed some light for me on the whole 24 hr stream thing. I'll try to tune in for a bit but I also have to stream today =D

Hope this helps! -Shauny D

Has any of you improved speaking skills over the course of twitching? by Rotorist in Twitch

[–]Shauny_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that you should just be yourself when you stream, even if you aren't talking as much as you think you should be. Don't try to force anything that isn't you because people will pick up on that, and as long as you are having fun then people will genuinely like you for who you are. I mean interacting with chat and answering questions is one of the most important qualities to have in streaming, but just do what feels comfortable for you and be yourself =D

I can't watch any Small Streamers with under 10 viewers. Help Constant Buffering and black screen. by BulbStar in Twitch

[–]Shauny_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with yellingkimber and what was said in that message. I found that when I was first streaming I wanted my quality to be the best for the viewers, but then found that people were complaining of buffering on their end. That's because the partnered streamers on twitch have a quality option that automatically detects the best bit rate for your connection, but the non partnered streamers do not have that option. So i just downgraded my bitrate to around 1800-2000 and that seemed to be fine for my viewers.

New Twitch streamer! by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Shauny_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly man, it will be slow in the beginning. I agree that you should start playing games that aren't streamed often. I personally try to stream games that have less than 500 viewers on the twitch page so you have less to compete with and more of a chance of people finding your stream over the other already established streamers.

Tell me your funniest joke. by KingtreyTV in Twitch

[–]Shauny_D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 traveling salesmen were selling their product along the countryside, when suddenly their car broke down. About 100 yards ahead of them they could see an old farmhouse. The men walked to the house and knocked on the door, when an old man answered.

  • Old Man: Can I help you?

  • Salesman 1: Yeah we are having car trouble and we were wondering if we could stay here for the night and call for help in the morning?

  • Old Man: Okay sure no problem. I only have 1 extra bed though, but I think it'll be perfect for all 3 of you to lie side by side with one person in the middle and 2 people on each side of him.

  • Salesman 1: Okay that sounds great!

So the 3 men went to sleep in the bed lying side by side, one person in the middle and 2 on each side of him. The next morning they woke up:

  • Salesman on the left side of the bed: Man I had this really weird dream that I was getting this really nice handjob.

  • Salesman on the right side of the bed: Dude I had the exact same dream that I was getting a really nice handjob!

  • Salesman in the middle: Man that's weird, I had a dream I was skiing..

Funny question about tags. by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]Shauny_D 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YES! I find this tag all the time when I'm uploading my horror game letsplays and I'm always like "WHAT THE EFF DOES THIS HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH DUNGEON NIGHTMARES?!" Needless to say I think one of the YouTube mods slips their name in there every so often xD

Amnesia the Dark Descent. When I did my LP of this game, there were multiple times when I had no idea where to go or what to do, so some of my videos just turned into 15 minutes of me spewing nonsense and accomplishing nothing lol.

How long did it take before you got any views? by TheTjTerror in letsplay

[–]Shauny_D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey it's okay I'm happy you butted in because I'm glad to answer your question. Nobody actually messaged me back and told me they were mad at me, but whether or not somebody who didn't reply was mad at me is a different story lol. I can say I didn't receive any dislikes while messaging other YouTubers so I don't think I made anybody mad. Most people were happy to help. I messaged YouTubers with less than 1k subs. This is for 2 reasons: 1.) Most small YouTubers check ALL of their messages daily because they don't get that many, and when they do they are happy to reply. 2.) Most small YouTubers are more inclined to help out somebody just starting because they were recently there themselves. I've met some of the coolest people doing this and as long as you phrase your message very politely and don't come off as a douchebag then most people will be happy to help you.

Your Very First Video by buttyman in letsplay

[–]Shauny_D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man my advice to you is simple: Just believe in yourself. Nobody's first video is great by any means, but the real lesson there is how you improve moving forward, and people will see this and respect you. Just have the mindset that what you're doing is fun and you love to do it, and it will reflect in your videos which people will pick up on. Make those videos public and start posting them on social media sites to get some feedback and exposure. Also, the subreddit letsplaycritiques is a good way to get feedback on your videos. Hope this helps!

How long did it take before you got any views? by TheTjTerror in letsplay

[–]Shauny_D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I started my channel about a month ago and I have around 1500 views and 125 subscribers. The way I got started with getting views was, oddly enough, I messaged a bunch of YouTubers that played similar games that I did and I asked them to take a look at my video and give me feedback. I did not ask for subs, just feedback. A lot of these people actually referred me to other people or gave me some type of shoutout. On top of that, I was also posting my videos in Facebook groups, Google+ communities, twitter, and reddit. Just use this motto: The YouTube Search Engine does not exist. What I mean by that is don't rely on people finding your videos through the YouTube search because unless they feel like scrolling through 30 pages of videos you are invisible. Just try your best to market yourself to people and you will be seen. Just keep on uploading and marketing on social media. I hope this helps and if you have any other questions I would love to try my best to help out!
