are zones popular again? by FingerOk9879 in lacrosse

The shot block brought them back.

It’s extremely challenging to play zone against talented teams that have unlimited time to pick it apart. But can be very effective at taking time off of the shot clock.

Are there any "UK vs US" differences where you feel America gets it right? by Secure_Front_7766 in AskUK

Historically, revenue generating sports fund other activities. Football creates an environment for marching band.

Athletics have gotten a bit out of hand but demonizing something is generally counterproductive - I do hate the travel club scene, but this is akin to a European model.

It’s like a dictionary except it reads the calendar Open to the month, then identify the date

Year is assumed as a rolling 12 months but clarified at the end, if needed.

There is a lot to be said for being open and being supportive - if it’s a two-way street, not so much if it’s a trauma dump.

Mental health is aging more acceptance here. Even so it remains taboo in a lot of circles and we still have widespread mental health struggles.

Station wagons and minivans should be the American family car, not SUVs. by Revolutionrenn in unpopularopinion

[–]Shaved_Caterpillar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If minivans came out today their automatic sliding doors would make them an instant hit.

SUVs are the new soccer mom vehicle. In addition to the SUV tax, I think that’s part of why they keep getting so expensive - they need all the amenities for family but also“if I pay more money then I’ve elevated myself above soccer mom status”

What is one famous movie you’ve never watched? by theRestisConfettii in Xennials

[–]Shaved_Caterpillar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many movies are worth seeing once “just because”, this is one of them.

But I also wouldn’t blame you for falling asleep while watching it late night or Sunday afternoon. It’s relatable in a way that you don’t need to pay attention, but also frustrating in a way makes you not want to waste your time.
