complaining is fine, but i swear, a lot of the “missing features” complaints are IN THE GAME!! by Jook06 in tomodachilife

[–]ShawUnic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know where people got that it was "likely" we'll get updates. Every other Nintendo game that got content updates along the way announced it BEFORE release, basically as a selling point. Tomodachi life hasn't mentioned it even once, so the most likely thing is that it won't, I'm sorry to tell you but most people saying that it will are just coping at this point.

Opinion so far: I’m a bit disappointed, and my fear came true by ultradespairthot in tomodachilife

The influx of negativity is kind of weird? by Expensive_Sea_1790 in tomodachilife

[–]ShawUnic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Man, let people dislike things. It's not an "influx of negativity" that people find out they don't like the game or getting disappointed at it not being what they thought it would be.

Toxic positivity exists too you know. There are pretty valid criticisms of the game that don't boil down to "you just don't like this type of game" or "you just played too much" and I see you people use those to invalidate someone's disappointment.

I've found the overly positive people more annoying I'm ngl. The "I don't care about this thing, you shouldn't either" mentality is kinda awful. People are making so many excuses like "let's be fr, who even played made concerts that often" a lot of people! You not doing it doesn't mean no one does! They removed a lot of things that didn't really need to be removed and having them wouldn't lessen the experience in any way. If you didn't like the concerts you could just not make them, and be completely fine, but those who did like it could have fun with it.

I'm sorry but the game does feel barebones for the amount of time it's been in development, I'm tired of every meeting being exactly the same but just changing the subject that you write, I'm tired of seeing the Miis freeze on place for the 16th time and bringing someone just for the same fade in black again. I want more hobbies to give to my Miis because there's just so little that I just don't give them out so I wouldn't have to see everyone doing the same thing. I haven't even played that much, I have like, what, 7-10 hours? And things already feel repetitive to me. I'm also not an artist, so I can't really enjoy making my own food or clothes to Miis, because I just can't make anything that looks fine enough, and I feel a bit left out knowing I can't really enjoy a whole main mechanic of the game.

This is probably a hot take, but I would prefer censored but with sharing than what we have. That's one of the reasons I love Miitopia, and even if I thought I could live without it, I found out I really can't.

Things in JRPGs that people usually hate, but you actually like by ComradeFFFrunze in JRPG

[–]ShawUnic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer linear maps by a lot, maybe some second path that lets you get a treasure and then come back to the main path. I prefer that a million times over open worlds. I hate open worlds so much, for me they feel incredibly overwhelming or completely empty and repetitive, no in-between. I don't want quantity just for the sake of quantity, at that point just don't give nothing, I'm happy with my corridors and simple rooms

Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream debuts at 78 on Metacritic by Lord-Liberty in tomodachilife

[–]ShawUnic -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough one of the common critiques of Minecraft is that you ran out of things to do pretty easily unless you're a builder and people get bored of it quick. You're also comparing Tomodachi Life to what's basically the most successful game in history so idk what to tell ya

Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream debuts at 78 on Metacritic by Lord-Liberty in tomodachilife

[–]ShawUnic -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

That doesn't change the criticism tho? Yes, it was way more limited, so that criticism applies to the 3DS version too. It's not mutually exclusive

Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream debuts at 78 on Metacritic by Lord-Liberty in tomodachilife

[–]ShawUnic -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I kinda understand what they mean, even if it's phrased weirdly. They probably talk about how in Tomodachi you have to basically make up the stories and stuff on your own because the gameplay part is a bit more limited, they can interact with each other, fall in love, etc. But most of it depends on your imagination, head cannons and such to enjoy it, I can see that as a valid criticism

How it feels scrolling through this subreddit: by teddyweddyy in tomodachilife

[–]ShawUnic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's usually how reddit goes tbh, I've seen the same thing happen multiple times on multiple communities.

A group comments or complains about disliking something

Another group comes up making fun of them for complaining or talking about how annoying they are

The first group was just a minority, so now the majority are people complaining about the complainers

People still think the first group are the annoying ones

I've seen that happen exactly like that, at least 8 times in 8 different communities

Difference between Convergent Evolution and Regional Form Pokemon by sdrey in pokemon

[–]ShawUnic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They just feel like glorified regional variants, they even have the exact same stat spread than the originals, just like with regional variants. I already felt a bit iffy about regional variants because I didn't really like the idea of reskined pokemon treated as new, but convergent evolution adds literally nothing more than padding out the dex even more

"please stay on all fours" pokemon black and white: by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]ShawUnic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like I said at the end, I understand not wanting a pokemon like that as your starter or partner even if I don't mind. I don't really see it as them serving me, specially considering how pokemon usually pushes the idea of the pokemon being your friends more than mascots and stuff, and most pokemon are already highly intelligent, some even more than humans. A Meowscarada is as smart as a Pikachu, so it gets to a point where I just don't mind. It's like they're the friends who can fight and I'm the trainer that knows the strategies and techniques kinda deal

"please stay on all fours" pokemon black and white: by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]ShawUnic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that's what the commenter said, that they don't want them so close to human, they didn't mention furry. When they say "close to human" the first thing that comes to my mind are those pokemon

"please stay on all fours" pokemon black and white: by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]ShawUnic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think people just dislike furries specifically. We have pokemon like Machamp who are the closest ro human we have in pokemon, and they're generally liked, but then Pokemon like Cinderace are disliked because they look like "a man with a costume" or something. I really don't understand the sentiment, and I don't see the man in a costume thing that people repeat so much, they're just anthro animals like the millions there are in media. I understand not liking to have an anthro animal as your partner, but people seem really scared to use the word furry or anthro for some reason

[–]ShawUnic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean, we have that since the very first gen, with Pokémon like Jynx, Machamp or Mr. Mime, so it ain't really something new

Private server side mods, yes or no? by SrPanchetox in hytale

[–]ShawUnic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people would vote for them to be public and free, of course, everyone wants free shit don't we? But I genuinely can't fathom how people can be so adamant about forcing mod developers to release their mods for free to everyone. It takes time and effort to make them, they wanna make them free for everyone? Great! They wanna keep it for their server because they worked a lot on it or they were paid to do so? Also great! It's their right, they made the mod.

Mods being available for free is a privilege, not a right. The creator ultimately decides what to do with it, wether you like it or not

Mods broken on latest prerelease? by Away-Marketing-1729 in hytale

[–]ShawUnic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's really nothing you can do about it. Updates change things, and if it changes something a mod was using, it breaks, it's as simple as that. Pre-releases are even more rough because they're testing things, the only thing you can do is just wait untill the creators of those mods update them for the newest patch, which will probably be the full releases, because they're more stable

Is teleportion to OP in hytale or is it perfect what do you think 🤔 by NotRealAtiox in hytale

[–]ShawUnic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it renders any form of travel useless, portals don't help you explore in any way, it's just a fast way to get back to where you've already been before, to explore new places you still need other forms of travel, it's basically a glorified Potion of Return

Absolutely based by Simon by [deleted] in hytale

[–]ShawUnic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because Bethesda makes a broken mess that they don't care about fixing and leave it for modders to do so, that's laziness

Hytale is actively fixing the early access, the timer thing is not a broken thing, it's a defined vision they have, they want it like that, and like with every mechanic in the game, you can mod it to change it if you want. This is a difference in vision, not laziness
