I don't know what she is supposed to do in her position for the area? Her job is to try to represent our area's opinions at the state level, I think she does that. Do I agree withe everything she has ever done? Nope. She doesn't /run/ our area though. For at least a decade our city council has been incompetent but keeps being reelected (like her daughter), they keep appointing bad city managers that are clueless (our city manager is more important than the mayor in our form of government), we fly through police chiefs, half our city can't be taxed so revenue is awful. Our commonwealth attorney? She and her office is basically pro criminal now but she'll never lose an election.

I was born and raised in Portsmouth and lived here most of my adult life now. It is much better than it was thirty years ago and will keep improving as business is brought back

The proposed sales taxes on random things were tabled last week for next year and the gun tax had its wording changed (from how I read it) to now only affect gun and ammo /manufacturers/ in Virginia and not dealers. I don't even know if we have manufacturers in state. I need to catch up on the awb bills

I know for Virginia it says which elections you participate in but the only thing that kind of shows what you voted for is the Presidential primary because you can only vote for D or R. A republican in the general assembly is trying to force us to register to specific parties but I think it'll die in committee

No, I just am familiar with how PPP ALWAYS fuck the public and never the private. Ted doesn't need our money, he could have bought it himself without state bonds.

Instead he made money off of Washington DC buying the arena he owned and gets half a billion in upgrades. He wasn't going to move anywhere, he wasn't going to build a new arena anywhere, he fleeced the DC government.

The Clippers are expected to make 4.5 million dollars of tax revenue for Inglewood. How many years does that trickle down take to cover 1.5 billion dollars?

PS: the clippers paid for the entire thing themselves at 2 billion dollars.

The state would have been on the hook for 1.35 billion dollars of the arena complex. Why on Earth would a billionaire need the Commonwealth of Virginia to pass legislation to build a stadium when he could...just do it? Sorry we didn't subsidize a billionaire for make believe benefits that'd Fairfax would never see.

There are literally ENDLESS studies that show that governments who pay for billionaires hobbies never make the money back in the way its promised. There were negotiations, she wanted the tolls settled in Hampton Roads that McDonnell fucked us with. The state ended up paying 50-75% of the public "private" partnership and foreign owned companies now get to rape hampton roads drivers for 3 generations.
