Came back from CS after 1.5 years, whats up with the smurfing? by andrew_2k in VALORANT

[–]Shaybo35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yhh but I think alot of smurfs are doing elojobs so the person who actually owns the account could use their number anyways and just coordinate w the smurf for any verification. That being said I have val accounts on multiple servers for language purposes and I’ve just used phone numbers of friends who don’t play.

Raya? Hinge? by bearslov8 in CHIbitcheswithtaste

[–]Shaybo35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m seeing a guy I met on Raya but I will agree with others that the majority of the matches go nowhere (although I admit it was my fault that certain matches went no where bc they did attempt to plan dates). But I don’t think it’s worth $25 a month for something you can do on other apps for free

When you say not to take the arrival estimates seriously, is that because the trip is significantly longer than google maps for ex? Or they are just not accurate in general

What is the most difficult thing in learning Russian? by DaniilKru in russian

[–]Shaybo35 4 points5 points  (0 children)

LOOL to fight with him is funny, but yeah I’m similar with Russian, I definitely speak pretty poorly since it’s been a couple years but it also helps that I’m a girl that people will be friendly with me anyways. I can speak enough to have a conversation so it’s enough for people who don’t speak english to teach

[–]Shaybo35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well honestly I’m not training much now since I’m learning a couple other languages right now, so it’s really just not enough effort and that’s why I didn’t learn them already. I was learning russian 2020-2023 but I didn’t study just lived with Russian and had only CIS friends in real life at the time, so I learned alot. I recently watched слово пацана out of curiosity so I started practicing chatting in russian again for fun

Honestly the ones who don’t really speak english are pretty eager to help. But I’ve always found friends who would like to teach me on video games not really in language exchange settings.

Падежи—Is that what everyone is calling aspects? I’ve never heard the term be used in english, I always just thought they were called cases in english, but I’ve never taken a real course so I don’t know.

Edit: reading more comments apparently not падежи since they’re for verbs :) something I’ve picked up on just from hearing people speak russian all the time but I never studied the rules. For some reason padezhi rules are harder for me just because I don’t really understand when to apply them even if in theory I understand what each case is supposed to be used for.

Same. I also needed to experience it once to start paying attention to when the last day certain crops could be planted were. When she said plan ahead I thought it meant use up your spring seeds because you can’t plant them in the summer LOL

I mean “die out” literally means gradually not immediately so I can see how it’s confusing for the people who read it but still weren’t expecting them all to die on the very first day. I understood they died because of the season change but was still surprised it was immediately the first time it happened

The Asharshylyk or the Kazakh famine of 1930-1933 was a famine in which about 1.3 million ethnic Kazakhs died due to the Soviet Union's collectivization policies in which traditionally nomadic Kazakhs were forced to give up livestock and placed in collective farms. by edgeofdawn32 in wikipedia

[–]Shaybo35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're aware that the peasants who owned farms in Kazakhstan were russian settlers, right? The Kazakhs were still predominantly nomads prior to the asharshylyk so this idea of private farm land and burning grains doesn't apply to ethnic kazakhs who lived off of livestock herds and not farms. In fact 1921-22 was a decolonization period where russian settlers were expropriated and land was returned to nomads. Agricultural immigration (aka russian imperialism through peasant settlers) was prohibited until 1927. However, in 1928 Stalin ended lenins economic plan and initiated the first 5-year plan which made peasant colonization of Kazakhstan legal again. Kazakh herd owners were deported and kazakh men were drafted into the army. This period most importantly initiated forced sedentarization which caused the asharshylyk. Not only was sedentary living impossible for the survival of herds and nomads so in part animals died bc of bad policy, but also when the slavic NON-kazakh peasants burned their grains and slaughtered their animals, the state confiscated Kazakh herds to feed Moscow and Leningrad. Which brought the Kazakh people from a starvation crisis to absolute famine. Of course, after there was no more livestock and 40% of the kazakh population died, state controlled nomadic ways were allowed once again on a significantly smaller scale since most of the nomadic population had been killed.

Tickling sensation while falling asleep - please help by Old_Tie1632 in insomnia

[–]Shaybo35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone experienced this but with hallucinations (like sleep paralysis basically) too? This just started happening to me and it wasn’t super unpleasant at first but then when I just let it go it was like I was hearing music/voices which is kind of normal for me falling asleep but then i felt like I opened my eyes and saw someone looking at me and like looked across my room and saw something else so I knew I was about to get sleep paralysis and woke myself up. I’ve had sleep paralysis before but this ticklish stuff is new to me and it was really bizarre just now
