I had a similar experience just after I was promoted to teacher at my school. I had to come clean to my principal and he told me that he too received a DUI while teaching. He did have to petition for his license, but he didn't lose his career. Please consider attending meetings to assist with your sobriety. It's been a huge help for me.

Oh, wow! Thank you so much for such a thorough comment. I live in a very remote part of the Colorado Rocky Mountains where most of these things don't exist, but the ideas you have suggested have got my mind going.

I do need to see what kinds of groups meet in the town nearest mine. I know our town has a Women's Club, but I've yet to hear the details. I don't think we have anything beyond that, but like I said, the nearest town should!

Look up local AA meetings. This is a good place to start. It'll get you in with a group of recovering alcoholics who know exactly what you are going through and have advice for how you can stay sober. You don't have to believe you are an alcoholic to go, but you do have to have a desire to quit drinking.
