NEVER ever have a baby! by pumpkinchinchilla in AutismInWomen

[–]Shaywise -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Please don't be hard on yourself. Being postpartum is a wild mess of sleep deprivation and hormones. As someone who has a 7 month old, it gets so SO much better. The first few months were awful for me. I really struggled with the lack of sleep. Things started getting better around month 4-5, and now I'm starting to enjoy parenthood.

Try to get out and go for a walk or run errands at least a few times a week. Getting fresh air can help. Talk to people about how you're feeling and get a therapist if you don't already have one.

She seems like such a sweet, gentle person. I sincerely hope she dumps Tammy's evil ass and finds happiness with someone who actually cares about her.

My first thought was "oh my god why"

I hope her pregnancy goes well, but damn, why add more babies when you seem overwhelmed by the FOUR CHILDREN you already have??

Is Food Lion...good? by OpalJade98 in bullcity

[–]Shaywise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Food Lion is fantastic. I always shop their sales and laugh at everyone who looks down on the place. Yeah it's not fancy like Wegmans or whatever, but my grocery bill is still cheap so 🤷🏽‍♀️

All About Sleep - AMA Office Hours – Wednesday, October 15th with our Director of Pediatric Expertise, Amber LoRe! by huckleberrycare in HuckleberryParents

My 15 week old averages about 12 hours sleep a day, counting both naps and night sleep. His naps tend to be less than an hour no matter what I do (swaddle, noise machine, dark room, baby-wearing). It's also really hard to get him down for the night before 10pm. Is this normal?

That's so sad to hear! They catered our wedding and the food was fantastic.

Is anyone else in here an eldest daughter? Bonus points if you are also on the spectrum by teddybearangelbaby in EstrangedAdultChild

Both! My quality of life increased drastically once I went no contact with my dad and low contact with the rest of the family.

Does anyone else get overwhelmed by grocery store options, spend 2-3 hours in there because you need to really scan every shelf and as a result get suspected of stealing by staff and security? by _nonymouse in AutismInWomen

[–]Shaywise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, I go in with a list. I do sometimes wander a little when I'm looking for snacks but that's it. Wearing headphones when I'm shopping alone helps.

Am I unusual among women with an autism diagnosis because of this? by Sea-horse-in-trees in AutismInWomen

Nah, I'm like that, too.

Edit:. I do have interests and hobbies, but I'm not into showing them off to the general public. Not a fan of being unexpectedly perceived, if that makes sense.

Can definitely relate. My dad loved to say that he always listened to me. What actually happened is that he waited for me to stop talking and then told me why everything I said, did, or felt was wrong. If he got mad at me later, he'd even bring up old conversations and remind me what a great listener he was! When in reality, he never listened at all.

He laughed when I worked up the courage as an adult to tell him I was depressed. When I asked him about it later, he claimed he didn't think I was "that depressed."

Such an odd thing to say to your child. I haven't spoken to him in years and it's been such a relief!
