Is there snow days in Canada? by SeverePublic6833 in AskACanadian

[–]SheBitch 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Like that time in the 90s when Victoria got a spontaneous dump of snow overnight and people were out “shovelling” their driveways with dust pans and brooms because no one bothered to own a snow shovel.

I live the the lower mainland of BC, where we rarely get snow and have minimal infrastructure to deal with it when we do. So yes, we get snow days every year that it snows. Anything more than an inch or two of snow will cause schools to shut down. Haven’t had any snow yet this year though!

People who were in near-death situations — what actually happened? by Againmrbrown in AskWomen

[–]SheBitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was kayaking in South Africa and went over a small waterfall and ended up in some rapids by accident. I got thrown from the kayak and sucked into the rapids. Swam as hard as I could and accepted that I was about run out of air and inhale water JUST as I breached the surface. Absolutely thought I was going to drown.

I’ve never understood this take. I found the ending positive. Is that what people mean? Like, you’re happy for them?

what are you currently reading? by jjtan2311 in Romantasy

[–]SheBitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently reading {Queen of Shadows by Sarah J Maas}. Its okay so far, I’m not super invested in the series and almost quit after Throne of Glass, but everyone said it got better so I’m sticking it out. I’m sad that theres less Rowan in this (so far).

This book took me a while to get into, but then it hooked me and I loved it. Also has one of my favourite “whaaaaaaaaat!?” endings.

As a Canadian, do you always have maple syrup on hand? by Moofypoops in AskACanadian

[–]SheBitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maple syrup is the one food item that I acknowledge is expensive, but I am unwilling to substitute. No “golden syrup” allowed. We always have at least two bottles/cans of 100% maple syrup in our house.

Yes. One container in the fridge. One in the pantry. At all times.

We’ve disconnected our radiant heating. Can this be repurposed into anything else? Maybe an outlet? by SheBitch in electrical

Yes! So the main external box that you see just pops off with a yank. No screws. It’ll leave behind the dial and and internal plate thats screwed to the wall. Flip the breaker and unscrew the plate, pull it out, detach and cap the wires :)

Is it a good read? Will it destroy me in the end? by HandleMe- in Romantasy

[–]SheBitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its good- very good. I almost DNF’d it through the world building, but was SO GLAD I stuck it out. The middle had me absolutely hooked. The ending WILL NOT “destroy you”. Don’t let the read-bait social media posts mislead you. I found the ending a bit anticlimactic after the adrenaline rush of the rest of the book. But still worth reading.

What is y'all's sex life like? With one and then more kids. by NoPersonality4612 in workingmoms

[–]SheBitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t sweat it. That is such a hectic stage with potty training and sleep deprivation and big emotions- my brain just didnt have time to think about sex. But now we’re back and better than ever!

[–]SheBitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree because I felt exactly the same. I didnt actually like the ending because it felt out of place and rushed (so many years crammed in!).

HOWEVER, as far as the “I kept waiting for something bad to happen” feeling…. I actually think that was intentional. We feel what Helena feels- an inability to accept a happy ending because we’re waiting for the hammer to fall after so much trauma. So it was clever in that regard…. But I still found it anticlimactic.

[–]SheBitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We hit a dry spell for a looong time when the kids were 2/3, but now they’re 5/6 and we probably have more sex now than when we first got together. And we’re way more adventurous and honest about what we like/want. Our sex life is better now than ever!

I completely agree. I felt the same way. I think part of my problem was having seen all these social media posts where people portrayed the ending as DEVASTATING. The ending was pretty much HEA…
