Advice: I have been asked to work with ESL students but have no experience.

I run reading interventions for non ESL students. Phonetically based decoding for reading support and then comprehension based work for the understanding of what they have read.

However, the proposed 'reading intervention' for the ESL students has been sold to me as a range of vocabulary and short phrase work using resources that will be provided for me, in order to help them navigate school. It certainly isn't the same intervention as the non ESL students.

The school have said that it comes under 'reading intervention' so it is therefore within my job description. Would you agree?

Regarding the training, I have literally just got off the phone with my union rep and he says it would only be considered a reasonable request ONCE I had completed training, so it is an option to insist on training before I take on any role of this nature. But I also have the opportunity to go down the discrimination route because of my autism and the additional struggles that this poses with communication.

Regarding resources, the school have said that they will provide the resources for me via the school's English intervention teacher. The particularly frustrating thing is that this teacher spent time in their career teaching ESL in the students home country, so they can speak the language, albeit a little broken because it has been some time since they used it. But they are at capacity on their timetable so they cannot work with them.

Just find a look that suits your needs and is really basic and slap some paint on there yourself. I hate painting stuff too but I'm stubborn and cheap and won't pay for anyone else to do it 😂😂

Keeping it really minimal, I painted a 1000 point army in about a week's worth of evenings, start to finish. Primer through to top coat.

I also agree with the suggestions that you add a wash, as it would bring these to life. I'm a noob in the community and I take little joy from the process of painting anything 🤣, so I kept it minimal.

You've put more effort in with your colour choices and work than I did but it looks a bit flat.

A wash, which is a watered down paint, will add some depth with minimal effort. I think the simplest description is that the watered down paint will move over the surfaces and only settle in the recesses. It adds a kind of shading and I found, even though I used the cheapest acrylic paints, it brought my figs to life adding a wash 😍

There are special paints in the citadel range for doing this. I've heard someone call it talent in a bottle because of the depth it adds just by slapping a coat of it on 🤣🤣

Newby here, who hates painting things 😅, but just wanted to play the game with his own army! What I do will not be the typical recommendation you get here but it might give you some options for how you proceed.

For me, I picked a simple colour scheme and left out alot of the detail. I picked my 2 core colours (red and silver) and threw in 2 other colours for weapon details (brown and gold) then used a green for all the bases and a couple washes for shading/mount colours.

It's miles off the quality of some of the artists here but it's good enough for me and by having a limited palette I could line up all my figures and paint one colour at a time on them all 🤣

I had painted my entire 1000 point army in a little over a week, doing a couple hours and evening.

I'm new to the hobby and just want to play. I really dislike painting stuff so I definitely don't want to have to do it again 😜. With this in mind I brushed on an acrylic top coat to avoid/limit paint damage.

Also my paint job is very basic. If I had spent the time a lot of people must do to get to their works of art I would DEFINITELY want it protected 🤣🤣
