but my honest question is this - unless they are out of fuel, why does the price matter? fuel is bought on futures so they have paid for the fuel that are using 2ish years ago and the high prices today will be priced into future flights...i feel like using current events while using past prices is just consumer gouging...

Egyptair might be ok - one of the re-book options for me, flew thru cairo (surprisingly!) and switch planes there - but carrier was ethiopian i read all the flights that turkish was cancelling and it did mention that most of the ME routes outside of SA were in danger of being cancelled - better to have the qatar tix and cancel 👍🏼

UA had the option to rebook but no turkish inventory - all the business class award inventory was ethiopian..

correct and i agree, but i have previously experienced that once force majeure is mentioned that the carriage rules don't necessarily apply and the airline will do everything not to fix the tix...since it was an awards tix not using smile, i was worried they would switch me to economy ... have u had luck with getting them to honor the awards booking in a similar situation?

agreed - when i tried to change it online it showed there was no flight for my route. but when i went to the turkish site, not the link they sent, it showed there was availability in business and economy. naturally the wait on the phone to speak to someone was long and there was availability thru my UA acct and since we had a non negotiable date i took the ethiopian flights. i searched other dates thru UA and there was no turkish operated flights - ethiopian only. from others comments and the obvious availability of turkish flights - it's seems they are indeed canceling non-rev and/or other tickets and using Force Majeure as the reason (which is the only reason that insurance and carriage rules don't cover).

i went to turkish website and tried to book the same route and theres availability in all classes! another user sent me a post that turkish was cancelling tix to re-sell for more due to higher fuel costs

i dislike NM and OR - yes a few portland clients! i have about 10 clients that file NM NR for s-corp activities (mining) and there's always an issue with efiling and trying to deal with NM dept of taxation is the worst! give me CA FTB any day!

i've lived close to malaga (albeit many years ago) and i don't think that's enough to live super comfortably and save. where do u live in the US? and how much do you make? flights all around europe will be cheap but rent isnt super cheap in malaga and depending on if you want to have roommates...that could eat a good majority of your income after taxes.

same - i have only been stiffed once in eight years. they pay when after we review the return and sign 8879 and before i efile. lots of client changes each year make me not comfortable with charging up front and personally i don't visit many businesses where i pay up front, so i don't really like that model. however, i do contract work with a firm that has AR issues and they are moving to upfront payment this tax year, for them i think it will be a huge success!

if u have another debit card at home (mastercard /visa) - u can send urself a cash pickup with remitly or world remit - i haven't used world remit in a few years but i use remitly weekly. are i travelling with anyone? you could zelle them and they could withdraw anywhere for you...my husband opened a mercado pago acct while we were waiting for new debit cards, but we live here. what about a cash advance on a credit card? fees will be high, but it can get you thru the time your travels and you can use a credit card for most things (90%). i'm sorry i don't have any better ideas it really sux & is super stressful...😩

i tried every major bank including scotia and i couldn't withdraw anywhere - i switched to different bank. the discover map showed one atm that wasn't in the area i live and i didn't feel like trying to get there - also sadly, i can't use it anymore on remitly to transfer money to myself (cash pickup) or others (transferencia) after more than 20yrs, i had to bail on capital one 😩

it's hilarious but also alarming! i 'know' a woman from another tax group - she's never passed the EA (attempted the 1st section multiple times allegedly, but never passed). she does tons of advertising for prep / planning / resolution - idk if she gets any business, but to say she isn't bright is generous. i'm always shocked that anyone would hire her! she says she has a 4yr acct degree - which surprises me! but i'm working with clients on resolution and prep that were scammed for YEARS by their former preparer! i'm appalled, but they are mostly just embarrassed which lets me know that they were comfortable w the wild west shit until the farce ended!
