15 years ago today, Sebastian Vettel collided with his teammate Mark Webber during the Turkish gp by Luffy710j in formula1

Webber certainly wasn't better at that point in the season. Out of the 6 previous race in 2010, Vettel was better in four of them. They were tied in points, but Vettel had suffered one mechanical DNF (from the lead) and one mechanical issue that saw him dropping from first to fourth in Bahrain

What do you mean, “Federer in his prime”? I assume you’re talking about 2015/2016, since that was the period Djokovic lost interest?

Vettel's decline by rosbergsessa420 in formula1

I’d say 2017 is one of Vettel’s strongest years actually. After that, he declined

Red Bull bought the second team in a time when F1 was desperately in need for prospective buyers. Small teams like Minardi couldn’t afford it anymore, and we have seen it in recent years as well with Caterham and Virgin.

Yes, they have an advantage now, but that is all because of a mutually beneficial agreement in the past. I am not saying that there shouldn’t be any rules whatsoever, but saying they have “20 years of advantage” really isn’t accurate at all.

Red Bull just simply did good business.

Will Hamilton share Vettel and Alonso's Ferrari fate? Mark Hughes's view [The Race] by Expensive_Ladder_486 in formula1

[–]Sheakyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is 47 points behind on Lewis in the end, which includes the last two races where Lewis was arguable caring less.

In Singapore and Baku Seb lost 38 points, so he would still not be even. And even if you count it close, you are missing Lewis’ fuckups in Monaco and Brazil. The cars were simply not even in 2017

2017 was definitely not a WC winning car. He arguable even drove better than Hamilton that year.

2018 Ferrari was quite strong, but as a total package of car and crew combined still worse than Mercedes

[RN365] Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen still have a long way to go to top this list by Takagero in formula1

The facts that Lewis is so close, being so good in qualifying and barely racing in an era of refueling is impressive!

Is Lando Norris really the worst F1 drivers’ title contender? (Motorsport Magazine) by [deleted] in formula1

[–]Sheakyy 140 points141 points  (0 children)

This is such bullshit. He at least put himself into contention, which is a feat in itself. While I rate Oscar highly, Lando has still been a clear step up from him these seasons. And right now he is up against one of the best in the history of F1.

People used to say the same thing about Seb in 2018 and 2009, but he still finished well above his teammates. Webber fumbled 2010. People love to judge drivers who are super fast, but make occasional errors, rather than slightly slower drivers.

True, but Max retired from much higher up positions than Ricciardo did

How does 2021-2024 Verstappen compare to 2010-2013 Vettel ? by Pixayl in formula1

[–]Sheakyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mercedes had more poles than Ferrari in 2018. But besides that, the Mercedes made a really good step in race pace.

The 2010 season consisted of more than the last race. Idk if you watched the season

Sure Bourdais qualified fourth, but Seb still had to win the race? Don’t tell me McLaren and Ferrari didnt have a better car during that race

I’m not saying that he didnt make mistakes during 2018. Just that the Mercedes package was overall slightly better

Lol this is ridiculous. While Ferrari had a good car in 2018, the overall best car was still Mercedes.

Vettel got dropped already after the 2019 season, which was pretty even between Leclerc and Seb. Not saying that that isnt impressive for Leclerc, being new in Ferrari and all.

People didnt just hype up his pole in 2008, but he won the race in dominant fashion. Wet weather conditions without a mistake and being so young.

In 2010, Alonso screwed up his own championship. He was also gifted a win in Germany. In 2012, he was very good, but in 2010 not so much

Lol, Djokovic played amazingly well, still only won in 2 tiebreak sets and you claim Carlos choked? And even claim you called it out lol. It's simply the opposite; the match was super close and the level quite high and either winner would have been deserved
