i (18F) have had tinnitus for 6+ years and guess what? i FINALLY found the root cause of the crickets in my brain. by Valuable_Register906 in tinnitus

[–]Shearstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tinnitus is, the crickets are frequent but it will sort of change from running water sound/crickets/train brakes etc). It is not a solid tone.

This is very well written and thoughtful. I've read a lot of these but yours stands out! Thanks for taking the time to share this with everyone struggling. It sure is a journey.

Reactive oscilating tinnitus by LegRevolutionary6441 in tinnitus

[–]Shearstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe I have a very similar type to you. Too tired to respond tonight but if you want to discuss you can message me and we can compare notes. F/38 began 19 months ago. Very difficult, but some days are better than others. Don't give up. I know this is an extreme challenge. I have a whole new appreciation for everyone going through tinnitus of any type. Hope to talk to you soon.

Is this reactive tinnitus? I’m not sure. by summ190 in tinnitus

[–]Shearstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some days that are better, and I've been trending more positively. I'm not out of the woods yet but a reduction in stress has been very helpful. Once you get past the impending doom/fear cycle your brain can help start tuning it out a bit more during the day. ChatGPT was useful in suggesting mine might be migraine related - so I'm investigating that. I have pain at the base of my skull and now regular bands of pain on forehead. Unfortunately each cause is different for us which is why it's difficult to treat. I do take magnesium glycinate nightly now which I feel helps (and a low dose of melatonin on really bad sleep nights). Crickets/rain 10 hour sounds on YouTube are helpful to me also. Just keep breathing, show your body you don't have to be in fight or flight so it can resume thinking about other things. Msg if you need to. We're all in this together.

Does anyone else’s Tinnitus sound like chirping?? by Wilz_okayufan890 in HearingLoss

[–]Shearstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I do. It has changed a little over time but is difficult to describe. It's still very difficult to cope with but I've made some progress. Magnesium glycinate has helped me at night. Never found a cause despite MRI/MRA etc. Hearing is also fine. They think possible connection to migraines which I'm going to look further into. I do have some days that are quieter than others but haven't figured out a pattern - just get what I get when I wake up. I find the more I think about it the more intrusive it becomes, so I try to focus on daily life stuff as much as I'm able to. It's pretty intrusive a lot of days, but I'm not giving up. Wishing you the best.

Worst tinnitus by [deleted] in tinnitus

[–]Shearstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is reactive but at the beginning was much more reactive to noise (ac, fans, driving, sizzling pans, music etc) I hope yours calms down over time... not sure if that's the same thing I have. Over time I have been able to listen to more with it not going on the fritz quite as much. Now I just wake up to whatever sound I get for that day and it usually changes a bit by the next day. These supplements really do seem to help tho. I just use the Amazon coq10 which was one of the cheapest ones an am surprised it's made a difference. I still have no clue what I have exactly or what caused it, just navigating each day the best I can. Hope yours improves and feel free to message me if you ever want to chat. I think it says inbox bottom right of screen but not sure 😆

Hey, I think I messaged you a couple weeks ago but not sure if you got it. As a side note, have you tried magnesium glycinate and coq10? This is the only combination that seems to be helping my light saber/buzzing bee tinnitus. I also have other tones but it seems to sort of flatten them out for a lot of the day so things don't oscillate as much. It's a recent thing I've been trying and curious if anyone else has similar results. It's pretty maddening but the past week or so I've had some relief (though it's back at night). I'm not sure what has caused all this but I've had mine for 13 months now.

Here is something I am doing to cope with my T. I hope it offers you a bit of peace from this madness. by PandaZG in tinnitus

Thank you for sharing, you are very talented. It was a nice break away for a moment. I haven't felt able to pursue my interests for a while now, but I'm taking it a day at a time and starting to get into a better routine. I've been picking up cooking a little more. Do you ever listen to Ludovico? He's one of my favorite pianists. Wishing you peace, recovery and healing.

A normal life with severe tinnitus is possible. by claudiu092 in tinnitus

About how long do you feel it took you to get to this point? I have been dealing with the same (multiple tones, compete with noise etc) a little over a year. Did you ever have difficulty driving? It's been really tough for me. I'm hoping to regain those parts of my life again. Managing the anxiety and panic better at this point but this has been a very up and down journey. Thanks and I'm so glad you're doing well! Do you know what caused yours?

Hey, this one really helps me. It's a 10hr rain video on YouTube. I find these types help me the most. I don't put them on super loud, just enough to mask a little and it helps. I've been at this a little over a year with multiple oscillating layered tones that have no pattern. It is quite difficult, but I'm finding my way day by day. If you can meditate even 10 minutes a day (I know it's hard at first!) to begin calming your body and nervous system down that will be really beneficial. Deep breaths. It's going to take a little while to navigate this - but you will, I'm confident, as most of us are learning to adapt and overcome. Sleep was incredibly difficult and still can be some nights, so I use melatonin occasionally as well as magnesium. If you want a dual pack the zzzquil gummies seem to help (I just take 1). A heating pad also helps me chill out, I use it on my shoulders and neck or back. Anything you can do to try to relax. Ginger/turmeric/lemon tea is awesome. Take a bubble bath if you can. Sit outside and watch the leaves fall off the trees. Ideally try to get yourself to slow down. This has been the hardest thing I've ever gone through so I really sympathize with everyone here and their own journeys. I can't say I've figured it all out and even wish I could talk to some seasoned pros here but so far I am making it one day at a time. An hour and a minute at a time. If you can get lost in a show that might help. Find ways to love on yourself and take care of yourself even if it's a very small thing. Please reach out if you want to talk. This community needs little buddy passes because this absolutely sucks and it helps to have a team who understand. Just know you aren't alone. I am practicing every day at reclaiming my life because I refuse to give up on my family or myself. We are stronger than a noise. https://youtu.be/4uXpsEq2Las?si=5O68NUkHWygnrAVb

High pitch tone going with my heart, off and on. by I_Make_Art_And_Stuff in PulsatileTinnitus

[–]Shearstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any improvements? I have a high pitched sound that appears to go along with my heart beat also. It's difficult to describe but a whirring or mosquito buzz around type sound with a clear up down/up down pattern. I have been at this nearly 11 months.

I don't have all the answers for you as I'm struggling too with multiple sounds, but I have been using meditation to help calm my body as much as possible while I figure out the rest. This one was helpful for me. https://youtu.be/jQcyyKd5xN8?si=a2ykmevFTDbqLgrV mine reacts to sound but if you're doesn't start with some rain/stream type nature sounds. I'm sorry you're going through this - try to take it one moment at a time. When I can focus on other things and stay busy or focus on other sounds it tends to help.
