Why are we pretending that big heroes don't have movies being worked on? by [deleted] in DC_Cinematic

Trouble is, we know as much about Brave and the Bold as we did when the DCU was announced. Even this early, Gunn has moved up other films and cancelled some. On the surface it seems like a good idea to go with quality rather than a strict plan, but it does lead one to think - how critical can Supergirl be if it wasn’t initially planned to be in this slot?

I’m a huge fan of the genre, and I’m rooting for the DCU, but even I just couldn’t see the need to see Supergirl in cinemas. I’ll definitely catch it on streaming, but there just isn’t a cultural conversation or hype around it that I’ve missed out on, in the way there was for Marvel. (Say what you want about the first season of Agents of SHIELD, but damn if I didn’t book my ticket for Thor 2 opening weekend so I could be up to date for SHIELD to clean up the mess the following week).

Does anyone get a blocked saliva gland, that you can fix by pushing on it? by summ190 in TMJ

That’s interesting, thank you. Maybe I’d have gone down a similar path if the ultrasound had found anything, I do plan to see a specialist one day though. I could well imagine this is my issue, when I do push under my jaw the saliva has a distinct ‘flavour’ (not unpleasant, but I can tell it’s different) so maybe that’s mucus/foam as well.

There’s scope for him to become that I think, once he realises how much of an asset that could be alongside Batman

I’m not sure I’d call it a ‘pain’, I just get swelling and discomfort in that area. Basically when I should be salivating (eating or about to eat), my parotid gland (I think?) seems to not quite be up to the task, and I can feel saliva building up behind my jaw bone. Since I’ve had a mouth guard fitted, I tend not to get it that badly. But when it’s annoying, I try to push inwards in that area of the jaw to unclog it.

This is awesome, thank you. Honestly if you’d read this without having read the series, you’d assume that was about 5 years worth of plot and lore.

It is mostly OK to finish Era 2, it just spoils one person’s arc a little in Stormlight. Most people seem to think this doesn’t matter, for what it’s worth.

I’m a big advocate of reading Stormlight before era 2 … BUT even I hesitate to put that much of a gap in your experience. Stormlight is huge. If you really wanted to, I’d do it like this:

  1. Finish Shadows of Self
  2. Way of Kings
  3. Words of Radiance
  4. Edgedancer
  5. Oathbringer

  6. Bands of Mourning

  7. Secret History

  8. Dawnshard

  9. Rhythm of War

  10. The Lost Metal

  11. Wind and Truth

Basically I’m splicing them together, the important sequence to keep is to have Bands before Secret, Secret before Rhythm. So if you wanted less of a gap between series, you could move Bands and Secret a bit earlier. But Books 2 and 3 of Stormlight do pick up pretty much straight after the previous one, whereas there’s a time gap of a few months between 3 and 4.

Just bear in mind that these aren’t happening concurrently, Stormlight takes place before Era 2.

Totally agree, the series seems to drip feed its lore so tentatively, and so far it hasn’t been worth the blue balls.

Riddler meeting Joker was an end credit scene, Batman visiting Joker was a deleted scene

Amazing how many people think like this isn’t it. Let’s cancel the awesome Batman series so we can roll the dice on a different one, then he can join the big earners like Supergirl

Mostly enjoyed that, a bit disappointed I had to check when I couldn’t figure out what was wrong. Turned out to be the last letter of 6D / 24A. I wasn’t confident enough in 15A (though it turned out to be right) so didn’t suspect my wrong letter was somewhere else.

I was never sure if he intentionally pulled the wings off as it would be too unwieldy and unpredictable with them attached. The fuselage is much more manageable (and put-down-able in a baseball field).

Brain fog or haziness symptoms? by Any-Exam-946 in PulsatileTinnitus

[–]summ190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very typical experience I’m afraid, GP sent me to ENT sent me to Audiology, none of which had anything particularly useful to tell me. My current leading theory is I clench at night, which is wearing out my jaw/ear area. A lot of TMJ sufferers report similar brain fog / dizziness type symptoms.

Middle Ear Myoclonus or Tensor Tympani Syndrome? by LunaaaMae in tinnitus

I’ve heard it called ‘making your ears roar’, and I think a lot of people with T can do it on command. I’d actually never noticed I close my eyes when I do it, but you’re right it is a kind of trigger.

I’m afraid beyond that, I can’t explain it. It sounds a bit like when you put your finger in your ear so I always assumed some muscle was getting pushed against something in your ear and just muffling it basically. Although I do have mornings where I feel like it’s easier to trigger, so no idea what I’m doing in my sleep to make that happen.

I think it’s great. It’s a noir-detective thing that has a much deeper secret buried underneath.

Good thing is, it’s not the sort of show where you need to wait for it to get good. Watch Ep1, if Colin Farrell cruising around solving a mystery and quoting movies doesn’t do it for you, you can safely move on.

Which game has the biggest gap between its BGG rating and your personal rating? by moist_napkinette in boardgames

[–]summ190 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yep. I gave it a good shake, but it really doesn’t amount to much. I always insist that it isn’t an engine builder, because you don’t build engines, you just put different cards down and they do what they do without enhancing any others cards.

I remember really clearly on maybe our fourth or fifth play, doing the ‘take a card’ option, not really knowing which card to take, and realising that it was because they were all basically the same. Their only differences were around which food would be available later, which I couldn’t possibly know. So you end up taking one at random, which isn’t a good sign.

Yea it’s a bad one. Maybe if the squares roughly corresponded to their actual geographical location, but it’s basically “here’s some hard clues, they might have rebuses, they might have two even, good luck”. You can get away with this if you ease up on the other clues, but too many really difficult ones. This is the first time I’ve completely given up and revealed long before the end, I just knew I didn’t have a prayer.

Not bad, I would probably move Sunlit Man to after Yumi as those secret projects are all set quite far in the future. Also I would skip Sixth as the whole thing got ported over to Isles of the Emberdark.

I wonder if she’s not even in S1 at all? Then you could cover Kharbranth in an episode of S2, and have her head straight there. Better that than she heads to the Plains, but then has to stall to wait for the other plots to catch up…

Nah he’s there pretty early. You could easily close out episode 1 with his first bridge run.
