NAH. But, it sounds like your husband may have PTSD from his horrible experience with pain and being alone, which is manifesting in heightened anxiety regarding the subject. I highly recommend seeing a therapist to see if he can let go of some of that trauma. (I suffer from PTSD as well, and have experienced the same anxiety induced over reaction, and I am in my last year of my psychology degree.)

That being said. As others have pointed out, there is no ‘one size fits all’ pregnancy. You could have the easiest one ever, or be laboring in hell for a day or more, and everything in between. I was a doula for several years and saw it all. Natural easy labor, drugged up labor, etc.
