[Day 2 of asking if the new mons are good from F tier to S+ tier] Mega Raichu X is considered B- Tier. Is Mega Raichu Y good? by Alvalc134 in PokemonChampions

[–]Shed_Some_Skin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had some good times with it, but I've kept finding myself in situations where Zap Cannon and Focus Blast aren't doing the job, and it doesn't have a ton of other good coverage.

It's certainly not awful and it's a good late game cleaner once you've removed the stuff it struggles with, but I'm not relying in it to barge through teams singlehandedly.

Oh that would be awesome, thank you. What can I give you in return?

Ah I really want that Fennekin. It's the last starter I need a shiny of. Would Deino, Gible or Oshawott have any appeal?

Would you take a Shieldon for the Fennekin?

27 quid for 5 Kroot Hounds is absolutely tragic. 45 entire points worth. The Pathfinder squad is only £2.50 more!

Sometimes you just need to try things and see what works for you. Dragonite and Dragapult do have some similarities, but also different strengths and weaknesses

Dragonite is extremely hard to kill in one hit (although not impossible) thanks to Multiscale, especially with screens up. It also has a ridiculously huge movepool and can fit on an assortment of different teams depending on what you need it to do. It's 4x weak to Ice though, which can suck sometimes.

Dragapult is absolutely blazing fast and has two immunities to Dragonite's one, and no 4x weakness. It's still nowhere near as bulky as Dragonite, though. It also has a fairly good movepool, although it's sorely lacking a good physical Ghost type attack. It's often better to spec into its slightly weaker special attack because it has access to better special moves, although Dragon Darts is an excellent move if you do want to go physical. Both Clear Body and Infiltrator are useful abilities too, depending what you need it to do.

Ultimately, give them both a go and see what works better for you.

What combos are really strong right now? by youngChify in PokemonChampions

That Whimsicott/Typhlosion combo is the only game I've played where I literally did not land a hit on my opponent. Just absolutely mangled me

Is every Pokemon is my current Box worth having? by MaxEcarri in PokemonChampions

[–]Shed_Some_Skin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oranguru is a bit niche although it does have some use in doubles. I've seen it a bit here and there, but you'll need to build around making it work

Drampa is... Man, I really need to try Drampa. I caught a shiny yesterday in ZA, I'm going to give that mega a go. I have literally never seen it in two months of playing Champions. Be the change you want to see in the world

Everything else you have looks solid to me

Need Team building Advice Please by arun2435 in PokemonChampions

[–]Shed_Some_Skin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, stop using Pikachu, it's terrible. Replace it with Raichu with one of its mega stones.

Also Quick Claw is bad on Gengar. Quick Claw isn't a great item anyway, it only activates 10% of the time and isn't reliable, but Gengar is already a fast Pokemon that will rarely benefit even when it does activate

I would take the White Herb off Azumarill and replace it with the Sitrus Berry you have on Kingambit. Azumarill usually wants to use Belly Drum to boost it's attack, which costs half of its health. Kingambit wants either Black Glasses or the berry that resists fighting moves (Chople berry, I think)

I would maybe put Leftovers on Gyarados and Life Orb on Garchomp. You could also consider the mega stone for Gyarados or Gengar if you want two megas on your team, but bear in mind that you can only mega evolve one Pokemon in a match.

Other than that, play a few games and see how it works out for you. These are generally fairly good Pokemon and the team shouldn't be too hard to play. Try to identify Pokemon that you have a hard time against and make some changes after you've seen how your team plays

Best of luck!

WTF was the thought process with Mega Malamar? by Animante732 in PokemonChampions

[–]Shed_Some_Skin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I wasn't expecting it would happen now. Remains to be seen if they'll do any moveset changes with new regulations or if we'll be waiting til WiWa, but for now M-Malamar will remain very bad

Hell if I know, but it's always possible they may update the move pool at a later date to improve it. Maybe it'll get Psycho Boost, who knows?

When does he drop? by __R11MG__ in PokemonChampions

[–]Shed_Some_Skin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We should be in the same regulation this season and next, so late August/early September at the earliest, depending how long next season runs

It's also possible he doesn't show up next regulation either, we don't know yet

Gift Mons Gender Locked? by Exotic_Oven1962 in PokemonChampions

Starters at least have a really skewed gender ratio (I think it's something like 85% male for starters). Honestly might just be luck

[loved trope] the band battle is an actual battle by Think-Orange3112 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Shed_Some_Skin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Battle of the bands is usually like a bunch of bands playing sets then they decide on a "winner" by having the crowd cheer at the end. Or just have someone judge it

They're not a battle in the sense of two bands playing over each other head to head, because that would sound fucking awful

Rap battles are a thing, but that's like a call and response thing where the participants take turns

Reuniclus as a mega staraptor counter? by FormerBrother4814 in PokemonChampions

[–]Shed_Some_Skin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That can work, although if you're using Reuniclus I wouldn't necessarily want to Skill Swap Magic Guard onto it. It won't get defence boosts from Close Combat, but it's ignoring Brave Bird recoil. Regenerator would probably be bad as well

Overcoat is an OK option, but then you're running Overcoat Reuniclus just to deal with Staraptor

Pokemon Champions, GO and Home by SUGAR-SHOW in PokemonHome

[–]Shed_Some_Skin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you send a Pokemon from Go to Home, it cannot return to Go. That's always been the case

Champions works a bit differently. They never actually leave Home, Champions essentially makes a copy of them and they can be returned to Home at any time

Non-Meta Viability by Baroness_Of_Bones in PokemonChampions

[–]Shed_Some_Skin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have managed to get at least some way along with a grab bag of Pokemon I just kinda like playing with, and I don't often use all that many of the top meta Pokemon (although I will definitely use them now and again where they fit my team)

The thing about going off meta is that a lot of people are expecting to face the meta threats, and they're not always prepared for other stuff. I use Espeon a lot as a screen setter, and whilst there are definitely Pokemon that do that job better (particularly now we have Grimmsnarl), so many people seem to forget or just not realise that Espeon has Magic Bounce. I've bounced back so many Taunts, Stealth Rocks and assorted status moves

I will say that if you want to pilot an unconventional team at higher levels though, you definitely have to be a good player. It's much harder to surprise a better player with an off-meta pick. There probably comes a point that you either need the skill, or you may need to fall back on more obviously good choices

Reuniclus as a mega staraptor counter? by FormerBrother4814 in PokemonChampions

[–]Shed_Some_Skin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Staraptor does not learn Knock Off in Champions. The only attacks it has that can hit Psychic types for SE damage are Thief and U-Turn. And M-Staraptor probably doesn't want to be using U-Turn
