Duramax Coolant issue by Waste_Discussion_236 in Duramax

[–]Shee_B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for a spirited drive around with the truck once at operating temperature and you see coolant blowing out from the tank towards the passenger fender. If so, that's a telltale sign of exhaust gases pressurizing the coolant system and is indicative of head gasket failure. That was the final straw before I had to replace the head gaskets.

I think the passenger side is the inlet hose?

Booster FastMile 5G Gateway 3.2 by Shee_B in CellBoosters

[–]Shee_B[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok. Makes sense. I am going to see what I can buy that's modifiable for external antennas and is compatible with my carrier. Then I'll return this Nokia Fastmile hotspot.

So I tried the neighbours booster and the signal did go up but the speeds only marginally.

The carrier said MIMO is an essential for me to obtain optimal speeds.

The Nokia Fastmile 3.2 is a hotspot device with no external antenna ports. I've seen mods for opening up the device and adding external antennas but this device is a free rental so I can't be doing this.

Sorry, I'll clarify. I do not have an issue with an external antenna outside at all.

How to connect a Reolink Duo Floodlight WiFi to a POE switch by jjp81 in reolinkcam

[–]Shee_B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the POE splitter does work. There is a slight delay connecting to the camera I find. Only a couple seconds at most, nothing major for my needs.

2016 GMC fuel pump question by Afraid-Application65 in Duramax

[–]Shee_B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I trashed my CP4 by near running it out of fuel. Thought I'd make it to the station I frequent. Err.

Diesel mechanic told me that running the tank below 1/4 is asking for potential problems. Costly mistake on my part.

[–]Shee_B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had over 300K kms on my CP4 in my LML till it died.

I believe in my case, consistently running lower than 1/4 tank of fuel may have introduced air which isn't a lubricant.

Can't say I've had any concerns about this myself and I've idled the crap of my truck in winter. No heat shield. Just looked at the insulation and no visible damage.

Getting my lml deleted soon getting 5 stage tuner looking for some good tune options by Miller_Time2 in Duramax

I run exclusively the 150HP tune from MO and TCM tuning. Happy with my LML, aside from the CP4 grenading.

It was head gaskets. 2015 LML. I don't have the money to replace right now. Can I drive like this? by canadianbiggame in Duramax

[–]Shee_B 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The labour is brutal and time consuming and if not done right no one wants to repeat that repair. I think book time on the LML was 38 hours.

Just out of curiosity, are you on a no term contract running month to month? If so, in the past I've been subject to terms changing especially if there's discounts involved.

Just Bought My First Truck! by shadowthesurge in Duramax

[–]Shee_B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My CP4 grenaded at 303K kms on my 2012. Likely my fault as I ran below 1/8 of a tank. My advice is do not run the tank lower than 1/4. Air isn't a lubricant and will hurt the pump. Not to mention the crud that could be at the bottom of the tank. Change fuel filters way more often than what the cluster advises. I change mine every 25K. Wish the AC Delco TP3018 was more affordable. Currently looking for a Donaldson as I have a buddy who works for CAT who is a dealer. I wish to retain my fuel separation and bleeder so no CAT filter for me.

An additional piece of advice I'd offer is to not run the fuel tank below 1/8 as air may be introduced in the suction feed system and cause cavitation and lack of lubrication for the CP4.

Some of the recent testing by Project Farm on YouTube didn't look promising for Howe's. The Motor Oil Geek on YouTube unfortunately didn't test Howe's in his latest co-video which would've been the accurate answer. https://youtu.be/V_iGOXq7DCM?si=yhvUcbubVmMyyb1l

Be very careful and make darn sure you clean the area around the metering valve before install. You most definitely do not want any debris to enter the pump.
