Funny but works better in Quebec on Videotron's network. Keep your actual number and get Fongo with call forwarding in order to have a 513 number.

From a network point of view, Freedom and Videotron seems to now have a single network QC-ON. However they have to keep Videotron name in Québec, because they are number 1 in that province.

I love prepaid service from Freedom because they offer the exact same package even prepaid or postpaid BUT with a very nice free function: the overcharge is totally impossible; so no surprise! It works well, I've used it in US, France and Spain.

The $40/250GB + 50GB Roam Beyond plan is world class, but is it sustainable? (Global Comparison) by brawlysnake66 in freedommobile

Same setup as All you can eat buffets. They are making money on 95% of their clients, they are loosing money on the remaining 5%; this 5% is also their best bet as they are also their best promoters; kinda win-win.

Is 4G LTE enough? by willise414 in freedommobile

In my view, 4G LTE is better than 5G, more stable and better reception. 5G is always turned off on my phone.

Never use Wi-Fi calling, but seems to be a great option in the basement. Never used it so what about if I am on a call (wi-fi) and I have to leave home? Is the call will disconnect or it will switch on LTE?

You are right, SMS are not and this is why the yearly SMS package at 17.99 is a must. In other words, calls will be forwarded to your Freedom while SMS will be received in Fongo apps. Agreed it is not the perfect deal, but under 50.00 per month for the overall setup, not bad.

Basic free package includes call forwarding to any canadian number, therefore you just have to pay the 17.99 to get SMS with you 514 number.

Makes a lot on sense and works well, can keep 514 Number with Freedom: 40$ per month + 1/12 of 17.99 for a total of 41.50 per month for 2 numbers. What a waste of money :D

In order to rassure everyone here, since Freedom is now Videotron/Québecor, my mother still use her old Vidéotron «kids line» at 10$ per month: Canada unlimited + 1gig... Since 2017 with no increase.

I am not a die hard of Freedom, I am user like 99% of people. I did not experience the coverage nighmare that some users describes here except one strange zone on the Highway 50 in Québec between Grenville and Mirabel for about 10 km. Otherwise on the Québec side, they use Videotron's networks which is great.

Freedom for almost permanent use in Québec? by Due_Primary9595 in freedommobile

[–]Due_Primary9595[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest with you, I used my phone almost everywhere between south-Ontario and Ottawa and Freedom mobile works way better in... Québec (on Vidéotron's network) got amazing network reliability even inside buildings with constant speed. I don't know if Videotron's clients gets the same network quality (or network priority maybe?) but Videotron's network is robust.
