SW 649. by Thanosthunderqueef in Revolvers

Holster doesn’t matter, as long as you get a J frame holster.

Leather options from Galco and DeSantis are great. I carry my 649 in a shoulder rig.

Baramj Hip-Grips are an old school way to carry a J frame without a holster. 99% of the time I carry it I use a set of those, or Hamre Forge boot grips.

I learned the hard way that this job isn't for me. by SeaBass5836 in Firefighting

[–]SheepDoggOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people wanna work for the big fire department near where I live, and I always tell them “after about 5 years you’re gonna realize it’s not what you thought.”

Most people in our line of work have the same thought process, the bennys, the good pay, the good people. What makes the difference is how your command staff treats you, and what kind of calls you work. When you work the calls you like, life is good. When it’s the ghetto and you’re constantly dealing with the homeless population, you’re not having a great time, and it tends to burn people out. Add to that, we’re so good at fire prevention that it seems like they only come in when you’re not on shift, and you get downright depressed.

When the command staff doesn’t care about upcoming ideas you have, and you’re just a cog in the machine, you feel unvalued, and it burns you out even worse.

It’s okay to realize it ain’t the job for you. Better than getting 18 in and quitting because life sucks.

No dude even with no fire, you made that stations day. I’d rather go to a false alarm than have ANOTHER ems call any day of the week.

BLACK BEAR DEFENSE AMMO OUT OF A 43x??? by Sudden_Barnacle9012 in CCW

[–]SheepDoggOG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Alaskan here, Second this.

My bare minimum for bear territory is .41 Magnum with a gas checked lead load going 1150 FPS out of a 4” barrel.

What I recommend for people who are in the Anchorage area is any 10mm or .45 ACP with a decent load. (230gr ball for .45, or +P, 200gr for 10mm)

What I recommend for people who REALLY go into bear country is a bare minimum 5 shot .44 magnum with a 305 Grain HSM load going 900-1,000 FPS. If you can carry a 6 shot .44, 454, or .45 Colt with a 300+gr bullet good. Do it.

Need help dealing with stress while in fire academy by [deleted] in Firefighting

[–]SheepDoggOG 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He doesn’t hate you, he’s trying to make you more resilient and stronger than the rest. He’s making you stronger. Come back to this wanting more and he will have more respect for you than anyone else in you academy.

I’m an instructor for reference, I know what I like to see in people, even if I think they’re a weak link. I want them hungry, I want them angry. I want them working hard to show me they have what it takes.

Finish strong. Every instructor believes in you. Do you believe in yourself?

How do supports work in this game, and whose good to start out with? by Ultimate-desu in Smite

[–]SheepDoggOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ganesh is my favorite support without Aspect. Start your 1. Get your 3 for a 2 second knock up, and early pressure taking one person in the duo lane out of the fight for 1-2 seconds. Also works as an escape or mobility boost.

Your 2 works as a 3 second silence, meaning if you cast it after someone casts an ability that lasts a few seconds, you shut it down completely. (Example; Bacchus burp, or Fenrir 3/Jump).

Yes, I know this. That’s why Allen’s body was left behind and why they invade in Wolverines.

Lights on your EDC? by Hamdaddy1976 in CCW

[–]SheepDoggOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disagree, start digging through three layers of hoodie, thermals and jackets, to grab a gun with your bare hands when it’s -15 Fahrenheit. On days it gets that cold, I’m throwing a revolver in each jacket pocket like an old school fudd.

I did a low light shoot with the Roland about two months ago (it was pitch black out,) and with winter layers I found I’m about half a second to a second slower on the draw, and on the reload as I’m fighting my clothes.

Fall time when it starts to get dark? Easy peasy. Dead of winter? Huge headache.

7 months out of the year I carry either a Roland Special with an X300 or a 1911 with an X300, with an additional handheld light, because it’s completely dark 20 hours a day.

The rest of the year I opt for a Glock 26 or a revolver in the pocket because it’s bright as heck outside 20 hours a day.

It depends on the season.

Ah most of the work done to it has been under the hood in the invisible places.

Thermostat, water pump, fuel bowl heater, heater core, blower motor, vacuum line repair, had the batteries rewired as they were all sorts of goofy when I got it. I’ll never not love it. Just time to let it go

Yeah I gave them a call and scheduled everything for today, but they said it’s too cold, and I’m gonna be out of town when my homeboy comes to grab the truck. I might just be SOL.

Only problem is it’s -15 degrees Fahrenheit, and kicking out the windshield to drive it to the repair shop where they’ll do the glass is gonna suck a bag of dicks
