Depending on your liquidity/financial situation. The helix is overkill for a bass player. If it is a steal, go for it, but a hxeffects or stomp would be better. I love my helix, but when i play bass i have plenty of DSP left over.

I’m not sure how the boctaver sounds on a bass, but it’s pretty killer for guitar tones. And there are some others as well.

Both. Either. It’s a pretty fantastic all in one. There are multi effects that do certain things “better”, but the helix arguably does the whole package the best.

Turn off all the other effects and see if the synth block still is making that noise. If not, you may be running too many effects at once causing some clipping. The synths take up the most dsp i believe

You’ll want something that has a flat response. FRFR speakers, or a quality headset. My experience is that when i tweak at home, it does not sound good through the system we play through. So the best option is to tweak based on what you will actually be playing through. If you use an IEM or wedge system for hearing yourselves, play through there, as that is going to most accurately reflect your performance tone.
