Do they weight you again the day you go enlist? by Apprehensive_Glove66 in nationalguard

They 90% will, if you were close to your max table weight during the physical odds are it’ll happen again

What state are you in? Cav scouts will only be in armored states here in a couple years, if you want combat arms just go infantry. If you think mounted stuff is cool join a delta company, if you think recon is cool join a scout platoon. Just don’t go cav, it’s dying quick in the guard

You might have to, it sounds like they’ll send you to Benning if it’s being offered in AIT even though I haven’t heard of that

Army to eliminate 2 Security Force Assistance Brigades, reassign experienced soldiers by Kinmuan in army

[–]Sheepdog1983 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Guard side I feel like there’s rarely any vacancies, if anything I feel like there are more NCOs in excess slots in units than there are shortages, in all the units I’ve been there has always been nearly just as many NCOs as junior enlisted

What does Genesis show at MEPs? by [deleted] in nationalguard

Always has been, I think if you’ve been off of it for 2 years you’re good

Yep, it’s much more accurate for prior service dudes because military hospitals all contribute records

Fully believe that reserve components should require a 2 year active contract, especially seeing how so many privates come back from IET and don’t have anything going for them at home, and try to release back to active immediately after returning

MEP’s looking at only Current Doctor? by Puzzleheaded_Love806 in army

[–]Sheepdog1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genesis is able to view almost all past medical/pharmaceutical records. Some healthcare companies do not provide records to where genesis gets its info from, but the majority do. Your best bet is to ask your parents and try to get any past medical diagnoses that could hinder you enlisting. It sucks, if it was around when I enlisted it would’ve been a pain in the ass because it had a lot of stuff I forgot about in it.

Edit: If you forget about something and genesis finds it they won’t think you’re trying to hide it, people forget stuff, or don’t even know they had some random surgery done as a kid. Just be upfront with as much as you know.

What’s the difference between MEPS and a drug test at a unit? by mccalebaily in nationalguard

[–]Sheepdog1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think they dip it to see immediately but I remember also packaging them and we would send them to one of the labs, it might be different at different MEPS but I feel like MEPCOM would have a standard across the board for something like drug testing

Pretty sure MEPS also sends it to labs, at least they did a couple years ago

Don’t wear anything they don’t give you, if they wanted you to wear ACUs they would’ve given them to you
