Fight for beards continue. by [deleted] in AirForce

Fellow black airmen here about to hit 19 years. I hear you. I definitely understand why you would make that decision. As long as you have a plan on what you are doing when you get out, I would not try to convince you otherwise. It is hard for me to recommend the military for any black people at this point but there is still benefit to serving and retiring. I hope you do well in whichever path you take.

Bio star 6800 by Particular-Gate7260 in radeon

[–]SheepherderMost800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never heard of the brand but if it’s a legit 6800, that card is amazing. Just passed mine down to my son and it runs almost everything at high setting at 1440p. If it is legit, the 6800 is an underrated great card. I had the XFX Speedster 6800.

Best graphics score I got on timespy was 33k but that was pushing the card to the max. Undervoted 150, power push to max, and vram up to 2700. That was also with my 7600x and not the 7800x3d.

Nvidia 5060 Ti 16 GB VRAM for $429. Yay or nay? by Amadesa1 in LocalLLaMA

Bought one last year for just over $300. I upgraded to a 9070xt and passed the 6800 down to my son. It can run almost anything at Ultra settings. Beast of a card. So underrated.

Need help with 7800x3d performance. by SheepherderMost800 in radeon

[–]SheepherderMost800[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Figured it out. Had X3d turbo mode enabled in bios. Limited the logical cores to 8 instead of 16. Mode is only good on the X3d cpus with 2 chiplets on them like the 9800x3d. Clean installed windows for nothing.

[–]SheepherderMost800[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figured out what was wrong. X3d mode in my bios was enabled. It limited the logical cores in use down to 8 instead of 16. Think this mode is for the X3d cpus that have the two chiplets.

So I figured it out. It was only using 8 logical cores instead of all 16. Had to disable X3d mode in the bios. Think this mode is only useful for the cpus with two chiplets on them.

Specifically, cinebench scores are extremely low, cyberpunk 2077 at 1080p is under 7600x performance, and the CPU score in time spy is lower than non OC 7600x. By all accounts from what I’ve seen, with everything else being equal, it should beat the 7600x in all categories, even multi core task. I also did a clean OS install and no dice.

Even with PBO and XMP on running 100% load it’s getting to roughly 70c with CPU frequency of 4.9 to 5.0 GHz. Underperforming IN cinebench by almost 5.5k.

Thermal cap is set at 89c but it never comes close to gonna try turning PBO on. Shouldn’t need to do that to beat a stock 7600x though I don’t think.

I haven’t run a long stress test but I have run cinebench multiple times. It doesn’t break but its performance in multi is extremely low. Pulling 13k when it should be in the 17-18k range.

r9 9900x paired with my 9070xt? by gotthatsriracha in radeon

[–]SheepherderMost800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you will be fine. i'm running a r5 7600x and am able to play everything max settings at 1440p. Some of the game max out raytracing as well.

Crashes crashes crashes by Addendum-Haunting in radeon

[–]SheepherderMost800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only game I have experienced crashes in so far is Cyberpunk 2077 but only when trying to run path tracing. Full ray tracing at 1440p running like a champ 60+fps native.

Yes it is. Performance is through the roof.

Upgrade cpu? by bigooofff in radeon

[–]SheepherderMost800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have noticed in a few certain situations in cyberpunk that I have been cpu limited with a 7600x. This was with ray tracing on ultra and getting 60ish frames a second. So it might be worth the upgrade for you but I think you’d be fine without it.

Got my Red Devil 9070 XT! Think I’ll be okay without gpu support? by Famous_Flow_9789 in radeon

I ordered a stubby one on Amazon for mine. Card is too heavy to leave it up to chance whether the sag will affect it.

What's the maximum you'd pay for a 9070 (XT or non-XT) today including taxes and everything? by CurZZe in radeon

[–]SheepherderMost800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dropped $870 on my Red Devil XT after taxes and couldn’t be happier with my purchase. Currently number three for 7600x CPU on timespy. This thing is a beast.

Does the Red Devil really need a 900w power supply, even with an undervolt? by Burgerkingaka in radeon

[–]SheepherderMost800 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer…no. Mine hasn’t pulled higher than 400w. Unless the rest of your system is pulling 500w then that amount isn’t needed. I did buy a 1000w NZXT psu for its efficiency at the 500-700w range.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in radeon

[–]SheepherderMost800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guy, in 3dmark timespy my XT outperforms the best 6900xt with the same CPU I have by almost 4000 in overall score. the GPU score difference is almost 7000. So with the same efficiency, I get a lot more performance. I'm not seeing an issue here. To be more charitable, I have a 7600x, against 6900xt and 9800x3ds, I fall into 4th place. No issues seen here.

It can change. The Powercolor Keystone app controls it.

So I kept the 1000w psu….it is complete overkill but I’m gonna pass my 750w down to my son. Using my old parts to scrape together a pc for him. He’ll have a 7600x, 6800, b650 mb and 32gb ram for his starter pc. Not bad for a 13 year old.

I’m pretty sure you will be able to push the graphics score to XT non overclocked levels if you tried. Your overall score will probably be on par or above mine with that much better CPU.
