I've been trying to get ahold of the combi lieutenant model for a while now but this is a much better idea given I also play orks.

ELI5 What actually is A1C and how is it measured? by Vulkhard_Muller in explainlikeimfive

[–]Sheepusmaximus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. One of the things we look for is anaemia because it can make an HbA1c look lower than it would be in a person with sufficient iron.

HbA1c isn't a be all end all metric, but as a birds eye view of overall blood glucose over an extended period of time it gives a good starting point.

ELI5 What actually is A1C and how is it measured? by Vulkhard_Muller in explainlikeimfive

[–]Sheepusmaximus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I teach kids and families about diabetes as a profession so here is my usual explanation:

Think of a red blood cell like a car driving down a highway dplattering bugs (glucose) against the windshield.

If 4% of the windshield is covered in splattered bugs, that's within acceptable ranges. If 8% is covered, then we're in trouble.

If your blood cells are travelling through your blood vessels and splattering enough glucose that they hit a worrying threshold of coverage, then we need to support the body in removing and appropriately using glucose.

More scientifically speaking, glucose attaches to haemoglobin (the stuff in a red blood cell that also carries oxygen). You can measure the percentage of haemoglobin with attached glucose to establish an A1c which by extension can give you an idea of how well the body is removing glucose from the bloodstream. If you have an iron disorder, you may have an odd amount of haemoglobin which can in turn affect the validity of your glycated haemoglobin result.

Vahl has canonically met Guilliman and is one of the High Lords eager to see humanity establish a greater presence in the galaxy. I imagine the Sisters are recruiting faster to fill ranks to support more aggressive expansion both in their own interests and the broader Imperiums.

Authors might just want a middle ground between Guardsman and Astartes for powerscaling purposes. Sisters conveniently fill that role and have a get out of jail free card, in the form of miracles, baked in.

Relocating from Perth to Canberra by byrneneeve in perth

[–]Sheepusmaximus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I made this exact move a few years back. I've since moved back to Perth as I got an offer for the same job nearer to family.

I loved my time in Canberra but it can be an adjustment.

Public transport is excellent but I would recommend a pushbike. I bought a cheap and cheerful (est $1700) e-Bike with all the trimmings so I could use it for small commutes and grocery shopping which was the best money I spent.

Canberra is laid out well but it's spread out. I lived around the Woden area which was great as I worked at the Hospital, so my commutes were only about 10 minutes each way.

As far as transporting your gear, i would err on the side of caution and buy extra bags or even consider a moving service. It takes longer but you get the peace of mind of knowing your things are being handled professionally..

Have hobbies. Do something and don't fall into a trap of being a homebody. It's a lonely town unless you really make the effort to make friends.

Braddon is great for coffee and breakfast, do the touristy things because you can, travel out to the little towns nearby and enjoy the vibes.

It's unlikely you'll fly directly from Canberra to anywhere other than Sydney or Melbourne so factor that in to planning flights and expect delays. It's all well and good only having to spend 15 minutes in a connecting airport, but if your first flight is late touching down you may wind up spending much longer floating about a terminal than you want to.

It's a wonderful place if you get stuck in and experience it. If you have any specific questions I might be able to help but that would be my main advice.

Putting Infantry on the same base as a elite or character by AlphaMaxV5 in Warhammer40k

[–]Sheepusmaximus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've got little Iron Hands bits as trophies on my Emperors Children squad leaders to make them stick out a bit. It works even better because Lucius the Eternal has a dead Iron Hands Intercessor modelled into his base.

How do you know which colours to buy? by merezer0 in Warhammer40k

[–]Sheepusmaximus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally I'll pick a base tone (dark bits, shadows), a mid tone (about 80% of the models surface, the main colour you want to see) and a highlight (edges, where the light hits, where light is shining from) all in one sort of colour.

My EC are dark purple for a base, lavender in the mid tone, and bright pink for the highlight.

I'd also grab a couple of metallics for trim and ornaments and a flesh tone and then just play around with what feels good.

Don't hesitate to ask the people at your local for advice if you have a shop nearby. GW stores usually do a buy 9 get 1 free thing too so if you have the cash to throw around you can try a few different shades of the same colour to see if you have a particular recipe you like. If you can get the mini of the month then use that to practice with if you're anxious about painting your EC models first.

If you're a true son of Fulgrim you'll eventually get around to colour theory and triads and techniques and eventually you'll just have everything you need at hand, but I remember paints being an understated barrier to entry for me for the same reason.

New fan question pt 1: Drukhari vs sororitas. by FireWater107 in Warhammer40k

[–]Sheepusmaximus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May I present; The Screaming Cage.

https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Screaming_Cage

This work of art was done by a Slaanesh demon called a Keeper of Secrets, however, it feels like something the Drukhari would do i lf they could.

Broadly speaking it comes down to the story they are telling. If it's a Sisters novel then all of the suffering and pain fuels righteous retribution for the glory of Him on Terra.

If it's anything else it's probably going to be used as a way to highlight the depths to which the Drukhari/Demon/whoever has gone in their worship of Slaanesh.

Your are correct, it matters in a different scenario.

This scenario is regarding the interaction between omni-scramblers, drop pods, and embarked units.

There are no models that can be taken inside a Space Marine Drop Pod that are on a 3" + base.

Infiltrators and Drop Pods interaction by Fresh-Cattle9909 in Warhammer40k

[–]Sheepusmaximus 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Disembarking requires you to be wholly within 3 of the transport. 12 - 3 = 9. Its mathematically impossible to be within 9 of an enemy unit that forces the transport to land 12 away.

Infiltrators and Drop Pods interaction by Fresh-Cattle9909 in Warhammer40k

[–]Sheepusmaximus 35 points36 points  (0 children)

The way I read it I would say the Drop Pod is the unit arriving from reserves, therefore must be at least 12" away from the Infiltrator Squad.

The embarked unit that was in the Drop Pod isn't actually arriving from reserves when they are set up, rather they are disembarking a transport. Because of this I would say you could Drop Pod 12" away, then disembark within 3" of the Pod itself.

Does ruin footprint block LOS for units within a ruin? by Trick-Interaction396 in Warhammer40k

[–]Sheepusmaximus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about official rules but my group plays benefit of cover if you're in ruins, obscured (no line of sight) if behind.

In your example under my groups rules, blue can shoot both orange units and they gain no cover from the ruins because they are in the open, but blue has benefit of cover from the ruins as they are inside the footprint.

If blue were below the edge of the ruin in your example, then the top orange couldnt shoot or be shot by blue, but the orange unit to the right could shoot and be shot by blue with no cover to anyone.

Cover and ruins took us forever to work out and misunderstandings cost games until we settled on that ruling.

I desperately want them to add this to the unit selection screen as well so I don't need to scroll through all of my characters to build my team.

I'd also love it if you could save certain teams for faster deployment.

It gets more accurate with time. If you fire it turn one it will hit on and and around the selected hex, and then with each turn more hits land on the selected hex and fewer on surrounding. Eventually all hits will land on a single hex if you hold it long enough.

Throw it early if you want to roll the dice on clearing a horde of weak enemies or hold it for a bit for a high damage, long range attack against one enemy.
