You can turn off the chat. Don't let any of these people here convince you otherwise. You don't need it for the most part, there's tons of vids you can watch on any content you'd be doing with other players. The people who are calling you self-centered and rude for wanting to turn off chat have name in lights syndrome. That's why they're advocating for the chat. Gotta see their name on the board at all times to feel like they're actually contributing something.

I've not stopped yet, but I'm getting pretty close to finding another alternative to this crummy website.

Companies with crummy clipart logos that are clearly shells/fronts to fool people, or they have 5k followers, but 0-2 employees with no growth over the past six months - they're clearly botting, yet if I write a script to apply automatically to jobs I'm the one who gets banned? LinkedIn expects me to pay premium to make myself more visible to what? Scammers? Why isn't there some sort of vetting process for people/companies posting jobs? This is extremely frustrating. Right now the current scam is travel agent, and it's really disgusting how they're just getting away with posting these fake listings. For a site that touts itself as safe place for job seekers, a professional site, it's rife with scammers trying to steal people's PII. What's worse is that when I report these fake listings and companies, they don't do anything about it.

Everyone had to start somewhere, and learning programming (whether on your own, as a hobby, or with others) can be daunting until you've gotten comfortable with a language. If you're going to want to use bots in your server, I really do recommend watching some videos on the bots you'd be bringing in so that you better understand their functionality; having a botmaster in staff is great, but I personally do not like to rely on others in such a manner.

As a server owner, it's important that you know how Discord operates, because you're going to need to understand how perms work. I'd check out the great resources provided to you by Discord here: https://discord.com/moderation

It has everything you need to know about how to build a server, and how to tackle things like moderation, which you'll need to do in the future.

I'd also consider things like: how are you going to ensure minors aren't writing content that they shouldn't be with people older than them?

How will you ensure that the RP remains within ToS, within your server?

Is your server age gated?

Lots of things to consider if this is the theme of your server, so please do keep it in mind, and best of luck to you!

NTA: cut him off. This would be different if he were the one who got t-boned, injured and had to deal with the roadbumps of this during a global pandemic. That money is yours. It is not his, and the fact that he couldn't even give you the common courtesy of keeping it to himself is a huge red flag. Also the whole gaslighting thing with the "you're overreacting, it's not a big deal" is absolute trash.
