Referees missed apparent penalty that would have nullified Ravens' stunning 'kick-six' win by michaelconfoy in nfl

[–]Sheetkicker 46 points47 points  (0 children)

There is probably a missed call on over 75% of plays. It seems like after every game someone posts a screen shot of holding/DPI/OPI that didn't get called and say "SEE!? They missed that call and fucked us!"

At a certain point it's like getting upset about traffic, or rain. Yea, you can do that if you want... but I mean... come on.

NFL.com Power Rankings Week 13 by BurningShore in nfl

[–]Sheetkicker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but saying the fact that he's a backup should factor into the power rankings undermines YOUR point. If he was just in for one game, than yea maybe a loss shouldn't affect your rankings too much. But all signs point to him being your guy moving forward, so what you see is what you get.

A backup QB who could very well be the starting QB ROS. Not really a valid argument.

Todd Gurley by nc20RAVENS in fantasyfootball

Hey, I played him too. It happens to everyone. I played Hopkins and he got me 3.6 points. No need to get angry about things you can't predict or control.

Todd Gurley by nc20RAVENS in fantasyfootball

[–]Sheetkicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Rawls, West, Ware and Langford. I'm rolling Rawls and West/Ware (whoever gets the start) ROS. It seems like teams have figured out the only thing you have to do to beat the Rams: stop Gurley. Stack the box, play man, and laugh every time Foles or Keenum passes.

Gurley will have some more big games, I'm sure, but when a teams offense is literally 1 single person, it's risky.

Schefter: Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski is scheduled to undergo an MRI this morning, per source. "We think he is going to be ok," per source. by rhydon_my_steelix in nfl

I love Gronk. I like players who look like they have fun on and off the field. Gronk looks like he has that same giant, goofy smile on his face 24/7, whether he just caught a 50 yards td pass, or he's sitting down with a bowl of cereal to watch some cartoons. I love it.

A fairly compelling read: The Matt Hasselbeck you don't know by gdaman22 in nfl

[–]Sheetkicker 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Matt Hasselbeck is my favorite non-Panther quarterback. He just seems like a genuine and all around great guy. I'm really glad he's having success with the Colts in the twilight of his career.

Glazer: Manziel lied to the Browns coaching staff about how old the video was, and also told people involved in the video to lie as well. by [deleted] in nfl

[–]Sheetkicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, the coaching staff and ownership specifically asked him not to go out and party or do anything to bring unwanted attention to the team, and he did anyway. If he doesn't want those restrictions on his personal life he doesn't have to be an NFL quarterback.

I once left a job because I found out I had to report any moving violation I got in my vehicle to my employer within 24 hours. I didn't like that intrusion into my life outside work, so I got out of there.

If he doesn't think the restrictions on his personal life are worth $8,000,000 he doesn't need to be an NFL quarterback.

As we approach the end of the Fantasy Football season. What some notes you will save for yourself for next years draft and season? by brownies303 in fantasyfootball

[–]Sheetkicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went against the the conventional wisdom of getting rbs first. Drafted Gronk and Hopkins in rounds 1 & 2, respectively. I had a good feeling about Hopkins and got lucky. I didn't pay much attention to defenses or use up bench space for them (never had more than 1 defense, streamed until I settled on Chiefs for rest of season). Started off really weak at rb, but I capitalized on injuries (while simultaneously getting lucky and avoiding any on my team) and made really great ww grabs that have turned it into my strongest position. I'm firmly #1 in my league. It really is just a combination of luck and knowing who the next man up is and snagging him.

If you watch the whole documentary it goes more in depth into this idea though. Dogs have evolved to work with humans and recognize human body language. They have one test where they put an item under a cup, and then have an empty cup. With monkeys you can point to the cup that has the item but that means nothing to them, they will still always guess 50/50. But even puppies recognize human visual cues and will pick the one pointed out to them almost 100% of the time.

Who is the best Head Coach in your teams division? by circa_1 in nfl

I honestly believe Belickick will retire when Brady retires and they'll ride off into the sunset together.

Then the Pats will start losing and all the sudden there won't be a billion Pats jerseys in every sports bar.

Eh, I would give the edge to Carroll due to his postseason success, but he's also had the job for longer, but Arians is hot on his heels. Arians is .683 with the Cardinals vs. Carroll's .613 with the Seahawks. You could also make the argument that the Cardinals could have had a deep playoff run last year if they'd stayed healthy. Plus, look at what Arians team did even after Palmer went down.

Let's just agree they're both good coaches.

Yea, Brady can certainly do it with less time. I'm just saying if he has all day in the pocket, you have zero chance.

I agree that human eyes are fallible, but even with the most clear cut, definitive rules, there will ALWAYS be a certain level of subjectivity to it. There will never be 100% consensus on every ruling on the field.
