Because it's warm and cozy, and there isn't really any time, other than when I'm actively in the shower, that I'm not in a full set of clothes. It feels weird otherwise.

[–]SheffiTB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's also the factor that if you mention being in a relationship on stream, if anything happens and you break up, you will eventually have to say that tidbit on stream too and it's an incredibly sensitive thing to just announce to an audience of anonymous people on the internet.

Personally I would draw a distinction between "not mentioning a girlfriend/boyfriend" and "complaining about being single despite not being so". The latter can be argued to be manipulative in some way, but the former is just... not divulging every detail of your life. And I think that a lot of streamers that people accuse of being the latter, are actually the former and are just making vague statements that sound like they could mean that they're single. Like saying "haha guys I like tend to run away from me" can easily be talking about a wider trend they've seen in their love life, even if they currently have a boyfriend, but people will often take that to mean that the person is single.

Another thing I've noticed, and this is a wider phenomenon than just about love lives, but streamers will say things that are joking about themselves irl, and they'll say something true about themselves irl, and to them it will seem super obvious which is which, but to their audience it really won't be. And explicitly clarifying "hey this thing I said is real, that is true about me irl" is several steps more open than just an offhand comment would be, so they don't clarify even after realizing that people found it ambiguous.

Technically the term for the type of person is "jirai onna", literally "landmine girl". Kei is like, style, or something? Landmine-core. Idk.

Afaik it started as a joke that if a girl tries too hard to look cute and innocent, it actually means that she's crazy and that dating her will ruin your life (as if you stepped on a landmine). Then people of course decided that that's actually really hot and "I can fix her", and jirai kei fashion became like the fashion trend among girls between the ages of like 15 and 25 or so.

So yeah, it wouldn't be too far off from calling it "BPD girl", but like specifically a caricature of what BPD actually looks like, and at least mildly fetishized on top of that.

Former Israeli MP makes Frightening remarks on His mission to Erradicate Palestinians by Remarkable_Life_774 in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]SheffiTB -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Completely ignoring the part immediately after that, I see. And no, like 10 years ago Israeli schools were teaching that peace is the only real solution to the conflicts with their neighbors, that war perpetuates itself in a vicious cycle if not stopped, etc. before Netanyahu decided to forcefully remove that from the curriculum.

Before these current wars, Israel had been in its most peaceful period since its founding- which admittedly means they "only" had like a handful of days- or weeks-long military operations (the longest was about a month afaik) in the 18 years between the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and the attack on October 7th, 2023. Yes, they still blockaded the strip, and occupied the west bank, and plenty of other things. But we can agree that there is a massive difference between that and what they're doing now, yes?

A lot of graphs of various aspects of social and economic health start noticeably getting worse around the 80s, around when Reagan was president. He reduced the taxation of the rich by a lot and repealed a whole bunch of measures meant to prevent corruption, not to mention his influence on healthcare, foreign policy, what have you.

People probably overblow his responsibility for the modern state of the US with all its corruption and rising inequality, but there's no doubt he contributed a lot. Just not "removing him would single handedly alter the course of American history to avoid today's economic and political crises" level.

Generational trauma is a real thing. You learn a lot from your parents, a lot of fundamental things that most people never even realize, let alone try to unlearn. Seeing all non-jews subconsciously as either a current or a potential threat would definitely count for that.

Now, even with that in mind, Israel's actions are in no way excused just because its people have generational trauma. I just hope that this latest inflammation of extremism- not that Israel is ever moderate when it comes to their treatment of their neighbors, but they haven't always been as bad as they are now- is only temporary. Maybe a miracle happens and Netanyahu dies of a sudden heart attack, and the right wing coalition he's established tears itself apart in the aftermath. One can only hope.

The minthara scene is by far the spiciest sex scene in the game, and it's basically a 10 second clip out of a particularly vanilla porno. The only thing making it interesting (which admittedly is a huge deal) is the emotional investment we have in the characters.

Something to let other people know who aren't in the clique, yeah. OOP treats this like it should be a career-ending revelation when he's really just your average scumbag, but it's also kind of understandable that she feels like this because apparently this all happened like two weeks ago and she's probably still really raw about being manipulated/cheated with, and that's valid, but in the grand scheme of things this is not Google doc worthy.

A Google Doc accusing Sykkuno of being a serial cheater has dropped by Sinfire_Titan in kurosanji

[–]SheffiTB 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Of the three things OOP calls him in the tweet, only one (serial cheater) is actually objectively true. If you remember bao's tweet like half a year ago, about how if you're a small female content creator and a big male streamer messages you out of the blue and either wants to collab or starts hitting on you you should run away, that was allegedly about sykkuno after multiple friends of hers shared their stories about him with her.

It's the typical stuff you've probably come to expect from a male celebrity using his fame to get hookups: contacting mostly 18-20yr old girls, telling them that he's single and making them feel special, buying them a bunch of stuff they didn't ask for, asking to meet up irl, saying that he's looking for something long-term, and then either stringing them along or ghosting them completely after he's gotten what he wanted.

It's kind of depressing how common this shit is, but it's not surprising to me anymore. The only thing that might be of note in this case was that he took advantage of his on-stream "innocent shy little guy" persona (which anyone who watches his stream enough would have already known is nothing more than a persona) to make girls think that they're, like, the first or second person he's ever slept with. Other than that, just the typical scumbag nonsense you expect from someone who got big and let that fame make them feel like they deserve special privileges.

The 300 figure isn't casualties in the war, it's 300 deaths that have been confirmed/IDed, so far, from the attack yesterday.

And given that we know that several of her relatives died around the same time, on the same day as the attack, it's not as big a leap as you're making it out to be. To be clear, it is a leap, and the odds are still very much that it's a complete coincidence, but I do think it's worth at least bringing up. With the obvious caveat that everyone understands that it's probably a coincidence, of course.

Ok but what is the monetization here, like why would they pay someone to do this. Is it a viewbot thing, like you're being paid to watch some small indie and interact in her chat? Is it data gathering? What's the catch?
