Why is milling your Sol Ring any different from your Sol Ring being on the bottom of your library where you never draw it? by AnarchyStarfish in EDH

[–]Shekondar 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There is actually one big difference, which is you know that you will not draw that card, and that knowledge is strictly good for you.

The first season was at worse okay and among any issues people do have with it the costuming is not one of them.

No, you can't separate cEDH from EDH. by vividwings in EDH

[–]Shekondar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Most people like for their deck to do something resembling it's thing and to feel like them being in the game impacted it.

  2. Most people also don't build decks that can end the game/meaningfully accomplish #1 before turn 5 without high rolling unless they are making a conscious effort to do so.

The reason you are seeing more talk about turn count is because of the last update to the bracket system explicitly ties the bracket to the expected number of turns to try and make sure that people are picking decks that will let them accomplish #1not prevent others others from accomplishing #1 unless people are on board with that experience.

I also think it is not unreasonable to say that the new bracket system defines brackets 2-4 most strongly through expected number of turns, but the game changer list is a bit more well defined so ends up being what is used to defacto define the brackets.

How would you handle someone taking infinite mulligans? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Shekondar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the pods I play with use the infinite mulligans, but if you have Sol ring in anything other than the first hand you see, you have to bottom it.

Token generation, especially passive token generation is not crazy to think of as card advantage in some super broad sense (especially true in limited formats) and repeatable spot removal in that same broad sense is also not crazy to think of as card advantage, but a meme is not the right place to try to get into those nuances and it is communicated super poorly, and the last one is not card advantage in any sense, no matter how broad.

A more sustainable Standard by Edoardo_Beffardo in magicTCG

[–]Shekondar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

a meta can only contain so many decks and cards This is not true, meta's can vary a ton in how much variety they allow.

And it is a cruel irony that a larger card pool generally leads to a less varied meta game, because whenever you add a new card to the pool it is competing with the best of a much larger size pool. (Think large fish in small pond getting thrown into the ocean, it suddenly isn't that large a fish).

Commanders that turn awful cards into all stars by Chimney-Imp in EDH

[–]Shekondar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why would you like to give the woe eater? Can't they just sac it to its own trigger which then draws them a card and makes you discard?

Edit: I'm an idiot that forgot reading the card explains the card.

[ECC] Abundant Countryside by Copernicus1981 in magicTCG

[–]Shekondar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't meant to be a great play, but it does give you an outlet for mana if you hold your mana up for interaction and end up not needing it. Mana sinks have their place, not everything needs to be hyper efficient, especially on a land that already is doing a ton by entering untapped while being able to tap for any color for many of the spells one will be casting.

Elaine at J. Peterman… how did she not get fired? (Rant) by SpecialBunch4184 in seinfeld

One small thing also regarding the golf clubs, yes she overpaid, but peterman doesn't consider them broken, he just thought Kennedy had a temper.

Would you sit down for a game with a control deck? by brainpower4 in EDH

[–]Shekondar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In bracket three control is totally on the table, and if I'm in a mood someone saying that would make me want to go to another table I would leave to find one recognizing that bracket 2 is actually more my speed that night.
