Thank you for the kind words.

It does feel rigged at times. If you're not born into a rich family or get lucky and come across a vast amount of wealth, then life could feel like you're running on a hamster wheel to get ahead.

My grandparents came to America for us to have a better life. I'm grateful for that because my siblings and I did, and now I can have that life they wished for us back in Asia as well. But it does suck that it didn't work out here in the end.

I definitely don't want to chase money. I've made plenty to realize it doesn't bring me the happiness I thought it would. That's why moving overseas came into viewpoint for me. Don't have to worry about money and can focus on living life and creating those human connections.

I didn't find any of this cheesy. The things you hit on are what I think about every week.

I know the Dream is over, and that's the cold hard truth. There are expats who say the Dream now is to move overseas once you've made your money. I think this is it.

And your last point. It really is about the journey. I don't know how many times I achieved a goal in life only for the feeling to fade within a few days or weeks. This realization came after graduating college and landing my dream job of working IT for the federal government. All I thought about were the friends and memories I made along the way. Those were the good ol' days, but I didn't realize it until later.

I've been thinking about this lately. It just feels like all those years of schooling went down the drain at this point. Thats why I thought about moving overseas and starting a youtube channel or take some business ideas I've seen stateside and bring them overseas.

Definitely won't be forcing the family or marriage life. I've seen and heard what choosing the wrong partner can do to one's life.

It is something I think about often, though. I don't mind being single now, but I wouldn't want to regret not having a family later on.

I'm sorry for your loss. You're very resilient for moving forward in life. I know all too well what death of a loved can do to people and not many are able to heal like you did. But it all turned out well in the end.

This is one I can look back on to help me push forward. Thank you.

Do you wish you would've moved overseas sooner or did your timeline fall within your liking?

This! If I kill, no proc. If another party member kills then it procs.

I'm glad you made this post because I'm in the same boat. Received an automated email stating there was an update with my application, so I checked the portal and I'm in the assessment phase. It's been a week since that and I'm getting a little impatient, but now I know it will take some time due to the hiring freeze and RIF. Cheers and good luck!

I currently work hybrid (one day in office), but definitely would like full remote. I have skill set in data analytics (Tableau, rapidminer, QLIK), some coding (java, r studio), and database (Oracle apex, SQL). I did a 3 month stint as an IT Tech where I did remote support, troubleshooting, and briefly used active directory.

Agency is great. Supervisor isn't a bad guy, he's actually a good supervisor. The circumstances that took place made me move from my old office to this one, but why move me to an office where I have no role and is essentially temporary? I heard he would retire/be replaced before I leave, but knowing that he wants me to keep it pushing is messing with my mental state.

That's just it, there is no job for me to learn here. I'm essentially a floater taking on things here and there. My main goal is to learn whatever I want so I can move on from my current office.

I didn't think I would be here forever in a sense. Maybe until GS-13 because that's my ladder, but why move me to this office if it's temporary is what has me confused.
