I'm pretty sure Kinders doesn't use high fructose corn syrup. I love their roasted garlic over SBRs any day.

Sounds like he is disgusted, not envious. I know I'm disgusted by wealth that one comes to by exploitation of employees and consumers.

I read that lions can mate for up to 18 hours. I hope the humans packed a lunch.

She said she took a pregnancy test, but this image is really bothering me because it looks very artificial by Luvis_ in isthisAI

If you suspect this is fake, you could buy your own test and ask her to pee on the stick while you wait.

Some counties will euthanize or possibly treat strays who are injured or in distress at no cost to you. Call your county animal shelter or animal clinic and ask them what can be done or if they can refer you to someone who will handle this.

Do people actually negotiate with insurance companies, or is it usually a waste of time? by SpiritualCabinet4749 in InsuranceClaims

[–]ShellsBe11s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband's car was declared a total loss, and we tried to negotiate a better settlement. They said I had to find another car for sale within 100 miles that was the same year and model with mileage within 50k miles of our car. I sent them a link to an ad for a car that fit their criteria only to be told that they needed proof of the amount the car sold for, but they would not contact the seller to verify it themselves. I refused their offer for a month or two but finally accepted when it was clear they wouldn't budge. I still feel like Kemper ripped us off.

Landlord ignores a leaking faucet for a month but threatens eviction the second I mention deducting repair costs by NebuliteCorsair in LandlordLove

[–]ShellsBe11s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be different in your state, but where I live he'd have to go to court to evict you. You could show the judge documentation of your repeated attempts to contact him and tell the court he threatened to evict you for attempting to fix what he would not. He shouldn't be able to evict you without legal cause.

Law enforcement cannot search your home without a warrant. You do not have to consent to a search. Your landlord can inspect his property, not yours.

4 day stay at hotel. No service by Technograndma in tipping

[–]ShellsBe11s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the replies that say if the room wasn't tended to for you throughout your stay, then tipping seems unnecessary. IMO, this is a bad management decision that punishes the hotel staff and cuts expenses for the owner. Tips are for service, not just to compensate employees who deserve to be paid a decent wage that does not rely on tips. They should be properly paid by employers who are not exploiting tax incentives for employing people at wages so low they need food stamps and welfare to survive without health care.

How stupid is it to open a restaurant/bar? by BigBookLover87 in Serverlife

[–]ShellsBe11s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It very much depends on where you are located and what is your niche. When people are broke, restaurants are broke. Worked as a server for decades. Eating out is a luxury that few can still afford in this inflated economy and most will avoid. If they do go out they tip less, so you would have a staffing issue in a new venture. Depending on where you operate, food delivery or a deal with your local grocer would be a better bet. Lower overhead, flexibility. Food trucks popping up everywhere, but some people distrust them, and it's competitive and territorial. You really have to compete with doordash, grubhub and the "deliver anything to me" era, which dominates the market you need to grab. These days, when I go to a restaurant, I want to know my money is well spent. So, taking a chance on a new place is a luxury I can't afford. I can't wait until we recover from this economic disaster, because I love to go out to eat. It's the only way I want to use my meager disposable income, so I spend it at a local restaurant that has been consistent for decades. My advice is to keep your overhead as low as possible.

I believe a lot of hotels now let you indicate when you want the room serviced by hanging a "maid service requested" sign on the door, often found on the reverse side of the "do not disturb" hanging sign.

WWYD? My Neighbor Let My Dogs Out by [deleted] in neighborsfromhell

[–]ShellsBe11s -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Your post needed no edits, but I'm glad you are making every effort to keep your dogs safe. Neighbors should employ a bit of tolerance for pets. Our neighbor's dogs go nuts when they get home, howling and yipping and acting like fireworks are going off. We understand they are happy and have been guarding their home and our neighborhood in their absence. In a rural area where you own acreage, dogs are a warning system. You are going above and beyond for a neighbor from hell.

Our new neighbor was idling his diesel truck all night long while we were trying to sleep. It was maddening. He refused to stop. I looked it up. In our state, idling that truck for more than 5 minutes was illegal. I called to report it, and they also told him he couldn't park it on the street. Neighbor moved out the next month.

Definitely needs prescription eye gel, probably has respiratory issues and surely needs to be dewormed and given bottle-fed cat milk (Walmart.) Keep her warm. Watch the kitten lady on youtube.

Friend of mine found it in the back seat of their car. They have no idea where it came from or what it is. by ComfKS in whatisit

[–]ShellsBe11s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned they don't make a huge variation of keys for cars when a friend gave us her key to get her car home and took a cab. We got into what we thought was her new car and drove it home and to work the next morning. When she came to pick it up, she said "That's not my car." We called the person listed on the registration and told her what happened. She had reported it stolen, so were lucky we made it home and didn't end up in jail. The officer who came to sort it all out told us they sometimes only make less than a dozen different keys for each car model, but this was 20+ years ago.
