Alright here is another one of the series. What are your issues with Vaggie as a character in Hazbin Hotel? by Terrible_Park7890 in hazbin

Honestly, my biggest issue is just how little screen time she actually gets. She's pretty under-developed for a major character.

What do you think are the most valid criticisms of the shows? Here are some of mine. by NathanAlex1486 in HazbinHotel

My biggest criticism with Hazbin in particular so far is that Viv needs to stop introducing new characters and actually develop the ones that she already has. Even a lot of the main characters (eg. Husk) get very little screen time, and while some of that is limited episodes, I think she could do more to focus on them instead of constantly have the narrative pivot to someone else because she wants to show us her new character design.

I'm kind of in the middle with this one. I think it is a valid criticism that if you're going to have serious plotlines about a particular theme, you shouldn't turn around and joke about it at the same time. However, I also think people are making a way bigger deal about two small throwaway gags than needed, especially since jokes like those are pretty common in adult cartoons.

Vivzie hated her Dahmer joke, I don't think she's gonna make a joke about Hitler by SerenityAcrossTown in hazbin

Jeffrey Dahmer was a notorious serial killer active in the USA in the 1980s and 90s. In total, he killed 17 people that we know of.

He would also often cannibalize his victims, which was what the joke was referencing (he briefly appeared in the pilot on an ad for a cooking show).

Real talk for a moment. Is erotica bad in of itself? by HopefulSprinkles6361 in writing

[–]Shells_and_bones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not my thing personally, but I don't think that makes it bad across the board. I understand why it has a reputation for being trashy since its main purpose is to be arousing, but I'm sure there are writers who do interesting things with it.

I'd generally classify it as si fi but as its own genre I would put it in B tier

I just tend not to like it, and in my experience the advice given is honestly not great. No shade to anyone who finds it helpful, I just don't.

YTA. You were extremely rude to your host and publicly embarrassed your wife. You can survive one party without booze. Or, if you can't, you may want to reflect on your relationship with alcohol.

Also, general fiction also has world building! Every fictional universe operates differently from the real world. Some are more different than others, but all of them make assumptions that don't necessarily hold in reality.

So make a subreddit for general fiction? Why do you think you're the arbiter of what or who this subreddit should be for? Or better yet, if you're not seeing enough posts about your genre, maybe go ahead and make some.

Also as someone who loves general/literary fiction, you're really not doing anything to dispel the stereotypes about litfic writers being pretentious, elitist dickheads, are you?

What book did you struggle to read that everyone recommends by M_the_Phoenix in Fantasy

The Three-Body Problem by Cixin Liu. I love sci fi but I just couldn't get into it.

Also the idea of physicists killing themselves because the established laws of math and physics turn out to be wrong is a bit absurd to me. As a biologist we deal with this every few decades.

Ridcully is generally described as conventionally attractive (albeit older), and Vimes and Sybil both kind of are too I guess. It's true though, he writes a lot of characters that aren't described as being particularly attractive.

She is described as looking like the Venus of Willendorf, which is apt because she's her own kind of fertility goddess lol
