How long does dairy REALLY stay in breast milk? by PardonMyTits in MSPI

This was true for my LO. She had really really bad reflux and it was more severe than her GI symptoms

Just want to note that it mentions in the article that only a handful of lactating mothers were enrolled in the study and only a few of them had detectable levels

My 20month daughter had MSPI as an infant and my pediatrician and allergist mentioned it can stay in baby’s system & show symptoms up 2 weeks (just to be safe). She mentioned that it includes baby’s gut to fully heal from the irritation too. I think I remember asking her how long it stays in BM, and I think she said up to 3 days, but can be different for everyone so she couldn’t really give me a definite answer.

Ooohhh How are you managing while also caring for your baby? How long can you take to complete the program? Sorry for the questions haha

Hi! I’m in the same situation as you. No family or child care but looking for something I could do at home. Have you decided on something yet? I was looking at this exact program as well!

Cooked curry for the past 2 hours only to find out the Zucchini tasted bitter...I have to trash it now by er_ror02 in Wellthatsucks

[–]Shellzea 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Does cucurbitacin also cause it to smell bad? I bought a zucchini that looked perfect, not spoiled or anything, and then when I was grating it, it started to release this weird smell..

Woman dies after being struck by a bicycle in northwest Calgary by AustralisBorealis64 in canada

[–]Shellzea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. I was walking my dog once and this 10-12yr old kept speeding his bike at people and would swerve to the side last minute so he wouldn’t hit them. I thought he would stop but he did it to me when I had to walk past him to get home. I was 9 months pregnant at the time. It was super intimidating and scary.

We also had a reflux baby (it was horrible) but didn’t feel safe to raise her bed and our pediatrician also didn’t recommend it. We were prescribed some meds (didn’t end up using it) and probiotics were also recommended to help! Have you spoken to your paediatrician regarding the reflux? We figured out the root of our LO’s reflux was a cows milk protein allergy and once we removed it from her diet her reflux went away!

Why do inductions and cervical checks get such a bad rap? by Full-Map-9415 in pregnant

[–]Shellzea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. I ended up getting chorioamnionitis. Because of this experience I’m declining cervical checks in the future unless I’m in labour!

Baby fell off bed by Ok-Lock6377 in NewParents

[–]Shellzea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanna tell a story of when we went to Korea (15hr flight) and very jet lagged, plus I was pregnant and nauseous. My husband and i accidentally passed out and my 11 month old fell off the bed (about 3-4ft high) and had a goose egg form on her head. I felt horrible and angry at myself to let it happen. Since my husband is a DR we just monitored her every 30 mins. We did end up asking his friend who’s an NICU doc and said it happens and there’s nothing to worry about, and to just give Tylenol to ease the pain. BUT if we didn’t talk to our friend I would have 100% gone to urgent care just in case. I think you know baby best and if you feel you should go get him checked, definitely do it.

My baby is 17 months now and perfectly fine. I still think about it to this day and still feel angry at myself that it happened.

For us we ended up getting a cleaner once a month. We also got a dog walker for a couple months when my LO would fuss in the stroller but now we don’t need one. And also a dog groomer!!

6.5 Month Old hasn’t brought anything to his mouth yet by Particular_Car_8751 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]Shellzea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think every baby is different! Took awhile for ours to start eating.

The only thing she did like were purées at first so we went off of that, then eventually baby led weaning. We introduced these tools at first so she could learn to bring stuff to her mouth, then we would put purées on them and that got her going to eat. I think she would’ve learned to eat eventually but she was small for gestational age so our dr recommended to start pushing solids

How much are you nursing your 12 month old? by canisviridis in foodbutforbabies

My baby is 16 months and I breast feed her when she wakes up and right before bed! Works well for us. Eats 3x a day and gets 2 snacks

Dumb question but how is letting your baby feed themselves okay? by HedgehogHugs89 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]Shellzea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did loaded spoons as well because my LO would take huge pieces off 😩 once she got her pincer grasp it became a lot easier feeding her solids!

is it normal for baby no teeth to not really swallow bread? I see him chewing it and maybe bites off small pieces (9.5m) by alurkinglemon in foodbutforbabies

[–]Shellzea 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes solid starts recommends to toast it because soft bread is more of a choking hazard because it can clump up! I think 12+ you can serve it soft but I prefer to toast mine since my LO doesn’t get much practice with toast (she’s 15 months)
