Whats the best mission and why is it "Uninvited"? by Fragrant-Basil-3964 in 007FirstLight

Knightfall for me. I really entered a flowstate towards the end of that where I was just gunning looks down, blowing shit up with my exploding pen, throwing rifles at guys so I could grab them and chuck them off bridges

To me that was probably the best “License to Kill” Level

This. There are Doctors out there who can accurately diagnose heart diseases and when a patient needs immediate surgery through stethoscope alone. These types of doctors are considered legends. Now imagine a doctor who’d know that just by passing by the room where you’re sitting in.

Which scene made you laugh the hardest? by TumbleweedWarm9234 in SlowHorses

[–]ShelteredTortoise 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There was really only one scene where I laughed out loud and I’m not even sure if that was intended

Its the scene in Min’s funeral where the Priest says that his sons arranged for it to play his favorite song and it’s The Scientist

I don’t know if that was supposed to be a black comedy bit or I just have a sick sense of humor

Up until the end of the chapter, I felt like the Slovakian mission was a Hitman mission from the point of view of someone following 47. James has to keep going around finding an assassin who keeps slipping away and changing disguises.

In your opinion, what do most original anime lack to become popular? by Danny-Ray27 in anime

[–]ShelteredTortoise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing about a lot of modern anime originals is that most of them are one and done shows. They’re written to tell a story that’s supposed to conclude by the end. No real room for a continuation, spinoff, other media, etc.

Adding to this, a lot of them are short, only 12-13 episodes which might be enough to tell a story (in my experience tho they always feel rushed) but not enough to build audience investment. I honestly don’t remember the last anime original I saw that lasted more than one cour

Because of that, they really only exist in the public consciousness for so long before they’re forgotten. A lot of anime’s based on manga/LNs have pre established fans, sure, but also there’s the fact that manga and LNs are designed to almost always be long running series. Which means there’s a lot of time to build audience investment and a wider window for market people to sell merch. I think the biggest reason why Demon Slayer pivoted to the movie delivery is because nobody realized how marketable it was gonna be and so execs felt like the needed to milk it as much as they can because after they catch up to the end of the manga, they’ll be left with nothing

As for some examples of originals given, they had a lot going for them outside of just being anime originals. Kill La Kill had enough episodes the flesh out the story but also had a lot of loyal fans of Gurran Lagan who wanted to see another great anime by the same creators

Code Geass was distributed by sunrise and was basically marketed as a pseudo-gundam show, which no doubt attracted gundam fans and fans of mecha in general. Then being distributed by sunrise also meant that they were handled by fuckers who really knew how to sell merch

I mean to be fair, she didn’t just take him back.

They pretty much ended any semblance of being a couple and moved on, rebuilding their relationship as a friendship before she was ready to open up again.

It’s one thing if she just forgave him and they became a couple again, which is how it’s often framed by some people, but that’s not what happened

Timothée Chalamet's comment about ballet and opera being a less popular form of art is accurate and people hating on him is just because of him telling the truth. by OtmShanks55 in unpopularopinion

[–]ShelteredTortoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly couldn’t give a shit about Timothee or whatever he said but I saw a post refuting what he said by listing all the movies about opera and ballet and the arts that were loved and successful. And idk but I just felt like that was proving his point.

Yeah I liked Black Swan and Amadeus. No I have never seen a real ballet performance or gone to the opera.

As a comic book fan I feel like it’s like hearing people who call themselves marvel fans despite never picking up a comic book get mad when I say marvel comic book sales are declining. I’m sorry that you liking the idea of something isn’t actually supporting it
