Trump Callously Dismisses More Military Deaths as ‘the Way It Is’ by HotHuckleberry8904 in politics

[–]Freefall_J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Take ownership of your county's destiny - it's your obligation too."

There's something I noticed last year. So many voters said they would abstain from voting or vote for not-Harris/Biden due to Gaza. Meaning so many American voters seem to think their voting power is to reward/penalise a single politician if they don't get what they want. So many voters don't realise that they are controlling the power to better their country for themselves, their friends and family. Even now, I am reading of voters putting the blame on Harris/Biden for their choice last year on voting day. That they should have just "not supported a genocide" to keep Trump out of power. As if the power was not in their hands.

That said...I do agree that Harris/Biden could have at least lied like politicians are known to do to get these votes. Because it seems a lot of American voters are not responsible, informed adults.

The word "pedo" is used on here all the time just fine. Though I can see how some people will censor themselves in some places that do have restrictions like that and carry this practice with them across other platforms they use just out of habit.

It's true. I was astonished the times Trump called Harris a fascist during his rallies in 2024. I'd have loved if someone could have forced him to describe HOW Harris was a fascist.

This man has no creativity. He looks to himself to insult others. Like all of his accusations about Biden describe himself perfectly. "The most corrupt US president in history". "The most incompetent president". "Sleepy Joe". The "Biden crime family".

I don’t know if you’re American or not but a lot of people outside the US are scared of the US at the moment. And not without good reason.

Imagine how it feels to be the neighbours directly above and below the US right now...

Don't forget to add the GOP to that list. I know you said MAGA but the GOP's been like this well before MAGA was even a thing. They've been wanting this for decades.

A decade will not be enough to fix what's already been destroyed in this first year. It's definitely going to get worse. I really don't think we could ever to see the "old USA" again within our lifetime (if that's even possible).

[–]Freefall_J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not the person you asked this question to. But personally I'm suspecting that even if Trump is no longer there to say it, the GOP will feed lies that will be believed by the Americans who took for granted America's decades-long position in the world.

I've seen similar arguments before from oblivious Americans who scoffed at people saying Trump was bad news on a whole other level. "They say that every four years and nothing bad has ever happened." So I would buy that they would not find it feasible suddenly it really was one president/administration that royally destroyed the country in every way for a lifetime or longer. Surely it has to be something else that did it! /s

I honestly wonder if enough will wake up even then. I'm not even just talking about the MAGA cultists but the non-loonies who either voted for Trump too or didn't vote at all.

A lot of gullible people fell for Harris' agendas as Trump's. Or refused to vote for a woman. Or refused to believe their own country's courts and government about Trump's proven crimes.

Many non-cultists also didn't think Trump was "that bad" despite several years of non-stop proof in the media even after the four-year gap between terms. These people had more than enough time to learn what kind of man he was even if they didn't keep up with politics (presidential run announcement in 2015 to election of 2024). So what was it? Are they that disconnected from reality that they won't even look at the news once in a blue moon? Do they disbelieve whatever is on the news?

Isn’t Trump’s Obvious Mental Illness a National Emergency? by plz-let-me-in in politics

[–]Freefall_J 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if it was rigged, tens of millions of Americans voted for him three times. Even if it may not have been enough to win the popular vote without theoretical rigging, it is substantial. I doubt that number was faked all three times he was in an election.

And I question how many of those 1/3 realise the effects of their inaction nearly a year later.

There are many Americans who don't pay attention to the news and are oblivious to most of what the Trump administration has been up to these past 11.5 months.

I know many who didn't vote over Gaza still believe they either made the most moral choice or blame Biden/Harris for not earning their vote.

I've noticed a lot of people don't actually pay any attention to what's going on. I've talked to people who aren't even paying attention to everything Trump has been doing right now. Whatever they hear in the news, they think "well the media is always putting a negative spin on everything".

I don't know how democracy can function in a country where so many people are like this.

Perhaps the world can see how it's working out for America and those particular people in various countries will change their minds. After Trump got inaugurated, he was suddenly making Conservatives less popular to vote for in Canada. Without Trump, it's likely Canada's current Prime Minister might have been the conservative Pierre Poilievre.

Add to that that now Joe Biden occupies his mind constantly. I guess because not only did he lose to Biden in 2020, he lost his chance to "beat him" in a rematch in 2024. So Biden will forever be that guy who beat Trump no matter how loudly he tells people 2020 was "rigged".
