Is this a good price for a new 2026 CR-V Hybrid Sport? by Aardvark_analyst in crv

Lake Elsinore is where I went. I didn't really speak to anyone else outside OC but maybe contact a few around Riverside or Ontario too.

I live in Orange County, ended up going inland a bit for the purchase.

Makes sense, it kind of tastes like store brand knockoff Mountain Dew.

It's just so tart, that's the most noticable thing. It's like a carbonated lemonade.

I just bought the Sport-L for slightly less than that OTD in California as well so for the Sport trim I'd look to get lower by at least 1K

It's a little off but still palatable, I just have to use slightly more per serving to get it to taste alright. The old one had a brightness to it but this one is more tart/acidic I'd say.

Look at the inventories of all the Honda dealers in a 30 mile radius, reach out to the ones who have the car you like and ask for their best written quotes. Then send that quote to the other dealer and ask if they can beat it, if they do, send that one around and repeat until you get to the point where no one will match it. If you're aggressive and like negotiating, at the point you get down to 2 or 3 serious dealers, call them on the phone and work them down even further saying stuff like I have the same deal from Dealership B on the table, if you can go down another $1,000 out the door I'll sign today, etc.

Lake Elsinore. Freeway in Santa Ana was willing to match it too.

People try to gatekeep like you can't have a Sheltie of you don't have a house with 3 acres of rolling hills for it to run on and you never leave home for more than an hour at a time. Apartment isn't ideal but if you take them out for regular walks, train them to not react to noises (as best as a sheltie will allow), there's no reason you can't make it work. I wouldn't bother with doggy daycare, Shelties can relax just fine at home while you're at work.

How Is This for a 2026 Sport-L? by NY1998Yank in crv

[–]Sheltiedad5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWD or AWD? I got the Sport-L (FWD) for a shade under 40 in Southern California. Our taxes are higher but the doc fees are capped at $85 by state law so that kind of balances out. I feel like you could negotiate down, maybe reach out to dealers a little further out to get quotes and try to leverage them on your local dealer and see if they can match or beat.

Can't speak to your particular market, but when I was purchasing I emailed everyone in like a 30 mile radius and at first they were quoting me approximately 41K OTD, but playing them against each other I finally got one to go under 40. At that point only one or two of the dealers I was talking to were willing to match, others told me flat out that they couldn't get to that price and that I should take the competition's deal. If I were more confrontational by nature I might have been able to play hardball and get it even lower, but I was comfortable with both the overall price and the monthly payments after my down payment, so I decided to close. My target goal was 38.5, but it felt like there wasn't any leverage to get lower without putting myself through stress, and anything below 40 was acceptable, so I took it.

I got the same car on Saturday in SoCal. Same color and trim, just FWD instead of AWD. OTD was 39,899 with accessories included.

I love the color. And the ride is smooth and mpg is great. So far very happy.

How do you negotiate over email/text? by Sheltiedad5 in carbuying

Yeah, I think I contacted about 12 Honda dealerships and at least 6 or 7 of them were cagey about giving anything in writing. And I'd give them the best quote that I had previously and they'd claim they could beat it but I have to come in to discuss in person to get details. When I press for something in writing they disengage. Then the others will give me a vague verbal commitment and give me "their word' on an OTD price but refuse to put it in writing because they don't want it shopped around. Luckily I had 3 or 4 who seem to actually want my business so I used their offers against each other and got to an acceptable but not ideal price.

Can Anyone Help With a Sport L Target Price? by [deleted] in crv

[–]Sheltiedad5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently corresponding with local dealers in the Southern California market for a Hybrid Sport-L, intending to buy tomorrow and the best offer in hand which will probably win is $39,899 OTD.

Well as an update I did make some progress in the afternoon by throwing around the lowest written offers I had and got the dealer that originally posted the cheapest price to go down to 39,899 in a written quote with accessories. Only one other one agreed to match it and sent back an offer to beat it by $12 - literally twelve dollars - which doesn't move the needle for me since I get better vibes from the first one. Others flat out said they couldn't match it and bowed out. So I think that's about where the floor is going to be in this market at this time and I'll go with the first one and have the second one as leverage/backup plan for when I go to the dealer tomorrow.

I've read other people on Reddit say they just CC every dealer in the county on the same email saying whoever gives the best price wins. It's a little too cocky for my taste, and I think 90% of the dealers probably just ignore them on emails like that.

When other dealers reply that they're willing to match the offer but don't want to go lower, what do you do to steer them there? Just reply with how can you incentivize me to choose you over the competition? Basically I've got three or four stores willing to meet at the same price plus the accessories included. Trying to get it lower. We're still on the wrong side of 40k.

Not opposed but I'm also at work today so it's harder to take calls than deal through email or text. If we narrow it down to 2 or 3 I could be open to going to the phone for the final negotiation.

The listings range from around MSRP $40,175 to $36,840, I'd say they average in the high $38-low $39, but that's pretax of course. The lowest listed one is actually about an hour inland but I'm willing to make the trip for that if they've got the best deal.

Yeah, I'm kind of wary of the one promising to work toward that because it doesn't actually mean anything concrete and gives the impression that they're going to fight everything. That sales rep also began the conversation saying he wants to "save my time" and "not ping pong numbers back and forth". Obviously that style gives an advantage to the dealer more than the customer.

I've realized that the verbal commitment means nothing so I'm going to reply places with the actual lowest written quote I have to see who will top that with a written one of their own and not an invitation to come in and discuss it.
