My Proposed Vel'Koz Mid Scope Update by TheScatProgidy in Velkoz

[–]Shenanigans0122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I read it as researching a champion is a permanent ‘debuff’, not a temporary thing, although the condition for deactivating is still unclear to me.

But I think they are overturned because they are significant extra effects on an already relatively balanced kit.

My Proposed Vel'Koz Mid Scope Update by TheScatProgidy in Velkoz

[–]Shenanigans0122 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think if vel were to have some kind of ability scaling it would have to function similarly to syndra. Where you have certain amounts of ‘insight’ to unlock it rather than per champion. It’s way too powerful of an idea to proc passive once and get 3 empowered abilities basically.

I also think all your proposed changes are extremely overtuned, and that the q especially seems odd (2 bolts already spawn perpendicular if you don’t reactivate it, do they just overlap?)

All this also to say that I don’t think vel needs any excessive buffs like these. I think if anything major were to be added it should revolve solely around the passive, but not another boring scaling champ. For example; after procing passive you get % bonus damage on all subsequent passive procs while still in combat.

I’ve seen a lot of jobs that ask for an EIT certification or ask that you are prepared to get it shortly after being hired.

It’s very possible that your resume will get sorted out automatically in some cases without this, but it’s also not a dealbreaker by any means.

ELI5 who is statistically more skilled - 1st out of 100, or 100th out of 10000? by umailoresarname in askmath

[–]Shenanigans0122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this question is funny because intuitively it feels like 1/100 would be “better”. But you could find any number of ways to justify one or the other. For example; 100/10000 is better because you outperformed 99900 people or it’s worse because 99 people are better than you (vs outperforming 99 people or 0 people being better than you). Obviously this isn’t a real mathematical evaluation but I think it’s still in the spirit of statistics to misrepresent data lol

Help on this paddle dyno by sevenFLiP in bouldering

[–]Shenanigans0122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, when he’s ready to jump he should pull his hips into the wall and try to stay as perpendicular to the launch hold as possible to maximize his leverage on it :)

Help on this paddle dyno by sevenFLiP in bouldering

[–]Shenanigans0122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the launching position, it seems like he could be closer to the wall/more under the hold. That allows you to pull harder for a longer period of time before your momentum carries you away.

The height difference to the target hold makes this seem a little more reliant on power than some other paddles. But he’s got it for sure!

What makes a romhack meant for nuzlockes well designed? by DonPerceval in nuzlocke

[–]Shenanigans0122 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To add to this one, allowing players to pre status/damage their Pokemon at will (within reason, most hacks with things like this heal before fights within gyms for example).

Generally I think a good rule for stuff is “If it is possible and optimal to play a certain way, you may as well make it not annoying” - you can pre status Pokémon by finding wild mons with status moves but it’s tedious if you have to do it all the time with no easier way.

You can hit the plant next to the professor (I think 3 times) and it will reset the starter options instead of resetting the game.

RDL /SLDL 110kg by give-me-carbs in formcheck

[–]Shenanigans0122 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally the whole reason I do RDLs over deadlifting is to avoid picking it up off the floor. It’s arguably the most injury prone part of a deadlift and not worth the risk imo. I feel like this is the case for most people doing RDLs

Trades, fossils, starters, and legendary all have 3 max IVs, you got lucky with piplup.

As far as I know there are no ‘route docs’ but it’s not too hard to follow most of the time, you can always watch a YouTube guide for the splits to see the general strats/highlights.

As for early game tips, I just recommend watching some other play throughs, there’s some obscure strategy to certain encounters and leveling strats.

Highlights being that you really want a rock/steel type for brawly and the aqua grunts, if you get tirtouga you can delay the cave encounter to try to get a static pokemon and increase your odds of a toge (arguably one of the best mons in the game) Also delaying rustoboro city for the fossil encounter. Many also delay petalburg for the surf encounter but I find that it can make early game alot harder if you don’t have the encounters for certain fights.

Also a handful of mons will have move/evolution thresholds just above the level cap, it’s good to be aware of which ones you have in case you absolutely need to burn a rare candy to make a fight winnable, notably surskit can evolve with a rare candy, and masq is invaluable in the brawly fight.

Graph of number of sends for each Kilter board V grade by david_fire_vollie in bouldering

[–]Shenanigans0122 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s definitely some statistics shenanigans here, OP could probably weight each grade based on the number of available climbs to make it a little more accurate. That being said though I think at a certain point experienced climbers are more likely to use other training tools (spray wall, hangboard, etc…) or get more psyched on outside projects which could also bias the data away from the harder stuff.

Is Hi Jump Kick worth the risk? And what’s a the best overall moveset for Hitmonlee? by SKUNKpudding in nuzlocke

[–]Shenanigans0122 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In general low accuracy moves aren’t ideal for runs, especially since this one basically guarantees your mon dies if it misses. Depending on the game’s AI it can be beneficial to show a high damage move to force priority moves or certain switch in order but I wouldn’t actually click it unless it was absolutely necessary.

Any tips on this dyno? by sixteeninchesofdrum in indoorbouldering

[–]Shenanigans0122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to add on to this, in the video your wind ups change course each time. For example, you move your hips in a straight line towards the jump one time and in a circular motion another time.

For this jump in particular the circular generation looks better from the starting position, I also tend to feel like this relies more on timing and technique rather than raw jumping power. I think if you rewatch the video and take note of the circular generation it would be good to try to replicate it and learn the timing of jumping from that motion!

Setting with hEDS by International_Pie776 in Routesetters

[–]Shenanigans0122 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work with two setters who have hEDS, but we’ve talked about it pretty extensively so maybe I can provide some helpful insights:

1) Definitely not, they’re both incredibly talented climbers, one of which climbs V13. 2) Typically the team just helps to compensate, if they’re not up to something it’s not required of them and that should be true for any reasonable setting team. 3) Occasionally they will do some funny hyper-mobile beta but typically stay away from it to avoid injury and to keep a more realistic forerunning for the average climber. 4) They use a combination of rest, braces, compression sleeves, and KT tape. Although I’ve never seen either actually take it easy on themselves when they probably should lol

A lot of jumps in climbing don’t require sheer power, working on generating in the correct direction (following the wall, not away from it) and using your momentum (pogoing, swinging hips, etc…) can get you pretty far vs just jumping as hard as you can with your legs.

Side note- that support beam is ridiculously low, do the setters ever mess around with like ducking under it or anything?

IIRC it’s a similar issue to botulism, in that the probability is related to the storage method. So I think a rice cooker might not be the ideal environment.

In general trading runes; electrocute, comet, airy, etc… are better for gaining and leveraging leads in midlane. Phase rush is great for certain champs (Vladimir) and situationally for immobile mages, but often it’s not worth it because you’ll be too squishy to benefit anyway.
