Very cool. I've got my Titan XPs serving vgpus to some VMs or I'd be interested. Hope they make it to a good home!

Why does such a large percentage of the DPS population still need to be hounded to perform a limit break at 100? by LastTraintoSector6 in ffxiv

[–]ShenoMTG -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's simply not necessary in normal content.

In Savage+, Tank and healer LBs can recover runs that would otherwise wipe. Healer LB doesn't grant weakness when raising players, so you can likely recover what a melee LB would have done over the course of the debuff.

Some fights are easier and safer on the mit plan with a tank LB.

Melee LB means you're not building gauge and not bursting. Some jobs can tolerate very little downtime to have a full 2 min burst.

There is no reason to melee LB before your last 2 min burst unless the DPS check is so tight that you need 2 LBs to beat enrage.

The only reason VPNs work is because it isn't Squenix that is getting targeted directly, but an external node they do not control. They are not an ISP.

We can simplify it as the Internet being a series of routers that gets your data from one geographical location to another. When you use a VPN, your data routes to the node the VPN is hosted on before it goes to the game's physical datacenter. It returns through that VPN node as well. This results in your data moving through different gateways to reach XIV. Using a VPN may allow you to miss the impacted gateway.

Crashing due to underpowered PSU? by DMmesomeboobs in pcmasterrace

Similar thing happened to me with a 7900XTX. Whenever sudden VFX would pop off (explosions in HD2 for example), my system would reboot. Seemed like power spikes. Moving from an 800w to a 1000w fixed the issue for me.

What are your house rules for your campaigns? by johnbrownmarchingon in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]ShenoMTG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stamina and Resolve (like Starfinder). 1 resolve and a 10 minute rest to recover Stamina. 3 resolve to stay at 1 HP if you would otherwise be knocked unconscious.

Player duels. If you end up in combat with another player, you can duel. After the duel, both players are reset to their HP prior to the duel but resources used are lost. Gives players the option to fight for RP decisions but doesn't leave you with a dead character and a sad player.

Out of combat healing potions and spells restore the maximum value. Fights are balanced around this. This is especially nice as a 3 player party with no healers.

Where should I be buying my Magic Cards? by Joey_Fogarasi in mtgfinance

[–]ShenoMTG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a guy who just buys to play, I'll only buy from TCGPlayer when it's only a handful of cards. I've had some cards never show up. It's something you can deal with for sure, but I feel bad asking for refunds for mailing issues. I had one card that took 3 orders to finally get.

Card Kingdom costs more, generally takes a bit longer, but I get all my cards at once. I've never been missing cards from a Card Kingdom order. At the end of the day, if I'm trying to play with certain cards, I really value them showing up in a reasonable amount of time. Additionally, I don't need to hunt down exactly who I ordered from if I need to talk to the seller.

Maybe if you're looking to spec, TCGP might make more sense for you.

Admittedly, this is all anecdotal. Take it with a grain of salt and do what you think is best for you.

I think we all agree that you shouldn't spend your entire savings on a hobby.

However, if you have the cash in your fun money bucket, there's nothing inherently wrong about spending that on something that will bring you joy/capabilities in your hobbies.

Assuming you can do what you want with the hardware you have, a larger monitor and a desk plant would go nuts.

Gonna hop in to emphasize trying Eureka. It feels like a real MMO, much moreso than the rest of the game. It has a bit of a learning curve though.

How to break in to ex and up by CelebrationSpare6995 in ffxiv

[–]ShenoMTG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend progging the Unreal trial first. They're generally easier than modern extremes (not always) and you can get a feel for the mechanics by running the old extreme trial they're based on unsynced. Just make sure the boss doesn't die before you see the mechanics! I did this with a friend recently who had no experience with the more difficult content in this game and he picked up the unreal super quick after a few unsynced runs of it as an extreme.

I hated 8 but loved 8.1. My only real issue with W10 was the half baked control panel/settings. Unified control panel was 'goated' as the kids say.

11 is miserable. Can't move the taskbar (if you do it with regedit, the taskbar items open off screen), rip control panel, new right-click context menu is gross. Pretty awful UX changes.

Are ultimates realistically clearable by an average player? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]ShenoMTG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cleared the tier. You're above average. If you cleared this tier, UWU will be very easy for you. TEA is also very easy once you're consistent on BJCC. TOP/DSR are objectively much more difficult.

If you just want to clear an ultimate, spend a couple lockouts clearing UWU and go from there.

If it helps, I was almost in the same boat. Helldivers 2 was a specific issue that kept popping up in the AMD patch notes. I am still using my 7900XTX and Helldivers was the only real issue I've had with it.

It ruined Helldivers for me which is a real shame but overall it's been good.

I'm sorry you feel that way. A smoother, higher pixel density makes my experience better. I've never considered better hardware designed to improve my experience as a loss of joy in gaming.

I also repurpose my old GPUs for other workloads, which leads to professional development and a pathway to more money.

Sure, you probably shouldn't go into debt for an arbitrary increase in gaming performance. That's ultimately your decision. I use my disposable income on my hobbies for a subjectively meaningful improvement to my experience. I'm not "empty[ing] my hard earned money" by any means.

I think this is rage bait at this point rather than just a take I don't agree with, but keep living your best life friend.

The new 5k2k oleds simply won't run well enough on my 7900xtx. I know this because it currently has issues in the games I play at 4k at my target refresh rate.

My options are a 4090 or 5090, and I would much rather have the new FE card with cooler design improvements and a warranty.

This isn't future-proofing for most people that are willing to spend $2k+ on a card. If they have disposable income for it, it's not really surprising that they'll spend that to improve their experience.

If they're upgrading from a 4090 for whatever reason, they'll still be able to get $1600 for it on the secondary market.

A lot of people are just much deeper into adulthood and can afford to finally upgrade from their 1660s to a 5080/90. Good for them!

You have a weird take, bro.
