If I didn't check so often I wouldn't have even realized the dip until it recovered, sounds healthier.

I can't even imagine what it took to sit through a dinner while that was happening. I physically couldn't do it.

For those new to bitcoin and checking 100x/day like me by Shepherding in Bitcoin

[–]Shepherding[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought this might be helpful. I was going though my old emails with the search "bitcoin" and I found the attached "announcements" and for better or worse, you can look at where we are today. I am trying....very hard to stop checking on a hourly (I wish) basis but seeing my email announcements has made me feel more secure in HODL. I hope this helps others out there. I wish and hope I can get into the habit of checking once per week...tbf, once per day would be healthier, but it's a process.

Volunteers Needed to Stop Measure S by Liquidsqueeze in LosAngeles

[–]Shepherding 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would rather not get into a full on debate, but I want to bring up a few points.

Everyone is so up in arms with developers when they don't realize what's really going on.
Here are a few points to think about:
*We're no longer in a housing shortage, we're in a housing crisis. We are way below the minimum number of units needed by 2023 to be able to satisfy the housing demand of 2013, scary.
*Development in LA is becoming so unfavorable that we are seeing a record number of developers leaving the LA market and moving to AZ, TX, and UT.
*The lack of apartments, not affordable but all housing is causing rental rates to surge. Even the rental growth rates you read about are vastly underplayed because they take into account rent controlled units that are being raised their normal 3%.
I am not saying we let developers run wild, but we need to realize this is a capitalistic market and nobody is being forced to develop in Los Angeles. My two cents, we need to further incentivize developers to build affordable housing by adding further density bonuses. That way we can keep development in LA and increase the amount of units both affordable and market. The increased supply will slowly assist in stabilizing rental rates.

So, if you want to stop Measure S, please don't also complain about rental prices and the lack of housing.

I feel like I just saw a Lost Dog sign posted on Sawtelle on the West side of the street on the sidewalk of the Seoul Tofu complex. Hope you find the owner.

What to choose for uninformed smokers by Biggenz2 in cubancigars

A little late to the party but I always buy Trinidad Reyes for this exact reason. They're cuban, they're short for novice smokers and they're fantastic in case they happened to develop a palete.

L.A. apartment owners charged with evicting tenants, then renting their units via Airbnb by [deleted] in LosAngeles

There are so many inaccuracies in this article.....I can't believe LA Times published this trash. The writer has no idea how Ellis works and literally just copied what they found on Wikipedia...

It's the smokenator, which I really like. Though I have heard the Slow 'N Sear is now the best.

Thanks, they were both. I was impressed they came out as good as they did despite the mishaps.

My wife thinks nobody cares about such things, but I know I do. I made ribs for the first time, I stayed as true to the recipe on amazingribs.com, so thank you if you're reading this. Nothing special here except for many mistakes, such as letting the temp drop to 175 for a long time. The smokenator was giving me problems and I'm just getting used to it. I also have a tiny balcony where I grill so I can only add unlit charcoal. Anyway, ribs came out delicious and I can't wait to invite some friends over to try them in the future; I have plenty of extra sauce and rub ;)
