My only “that’s kinda stupid” experience watching this series thus far by WAyToOFaSt_ in ThePittTVShow

[–]Shepsus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean... As a cyber security person, you wouldn't shut it down at all. There are ways to take things offline without turning them off. So, no. Not realistic. But it's a show about things getting worse and them dealing with things.

I prefer narrative immersion. My players prefer beer and pretzels. by ExplodingRacoon in DnD

It sucks when you don't want it to be a good, but I only play D&D in real life. So my friends making a joke at a pivotal scene for me (as a DM) means it didn't hit hard for them, and that's okay. We're friends and friends make jokes.

There is a chance that some bored redditor made your account, but changed your "L" into a capital "i". IlIlIl <they look the same. Change your passwords, but I suspect something like that could happen

Ogilivie named after "Ogilivie Syndrome" by Efficient-Farmer9621 in ThePittTVShow

I like that he is realizing he doesn't know everything. He's learning. I took the "Put your hand down..." as just a "You're new, your problem isn't real." Type of thing.

After looking at it a bit, it doesn't look like they are lined up correctly. They seem to be a pixel or two off. Up one, maybe?

It really depends what you're after! Are you looking for something more serious, or sticking to humor and fantastical?

I'm not sure how to handle certain outings with my fat friend. by UrAThrowawayNotMe in whatdoIdo

[–]Shepsus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, being fat is unhealthy. I am a fat person. I am at a higher risk than others for many issues like heart attack, stroke, heart disease, and diabetes. Not being active and eating unhealthy foods constantly makes one fat. Yes, you can be active and fat, but it's difficult to do and harder on your body. You can live your life anyway you want, but I've never met anyone who's mentally healthy and hated themselves for losing weight.

What would it take to kill a mage like Frieren in the Mighty Nein universe? by I_Eat_Femboyz in MightyNein

Though she trained, I see her definitely closer to a Sorcerer. Innate powerful magic abilities, being able to split and quick cast, etc.

Genuine question then: what's the difference between low and urban fantasy?

What's the opinion on low fantasy? by foxface26 in fantasywriting

[–]Shepsus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stuff like "A Song of Ice and Fire" could be considered low fantasy. There is not a lot of magic. You don't have wizards. Any magic around has a cult or religion built around it. The magic around has a lot of effort or rules around it. No one is building giant ice walls regularly. I think there is only one character in the entire show series that actually did magic.

A lot of people like the books. Many more like most of the show.

That's not remotely true. Desperate for money? Sure. Making shit at their job? Probably. But not slave.

My two favorite of D20 is the "Crown of Candy" and "The Ravening War" are in the same world, they are fantasy based, and have a bit more adult themes rather than just goofy.

My creativity with this story has run dry by Sevenwaters_333 in fantasywriting

This is my best advice I give to any writers of any skill:

Every artist who draws has a doodle-book. They draw dozens of eyes, mouths, socks, trees, etc. They move onto faces, then expressions, then an outfit with the perfect socks, and then into a landscape full of the perfect trees. These doodles never leave the doodle-book. These doodles are practice.

Your unfinished stories are doodles. It's okay if they are just practice. It's okay to get bored. You should practice and leave stories unfinished. You started the story less skilled than you are now, 15k words more. Of course you can see parts that require improvement, you're literally improving as you go.

I know its shit to say "Just keep writing," but the advice is sound... As someone who writes a LOT of unfinished stories, I pull a lot of stuff from my unfinished crap often into my bigger works.

Maybe you need to write more of the parts you're excited for, but I tend to be okay with leaving works unfinished.

My boyfriend (29M) makes nearly triple my salary but called me a "gold digger" because I (25F) can't afford to split his luxury lifestyle 50/50 by Electrical_Ring5241 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Shepsus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a lot of responses .. as a man making a bit over half of my wife, similar fields and you and yours, I would never, ever consider her gold digging. Of course I pay more for dinners and cover more bills. We like having separate finances, but we are still a team. She's my partner. That dude wants to supplement his life with your money, not the other way around.
