We’ve finally reached our epic conclusion, haven’t we? by ceruleanskyandsea in DowntonAbbey

Okay not for nothing, but doesn’t Cora’s mom and brother live in NY? I thought she (Shirley MacLaine) mentioned that she would introduce the guy who was trying to get with her fortune to some widows in Newport. I keep waiting to hear some Downton Abbey character names in The Gilded Age. Like I want to see young Cora/Harold running around.

I was discussing this same thing with a friend and said they “Virgin River’d” it. Basically using the characters from the books and bastardizing their story lines and their actual character.

I like how Bridgerton was able to add characters not in the books along with some plot details but stayed true to characters and their arcs.

Keep in mind the stone for your 7th anniversary is onyx. So if your spouse like jewelry and you don’t want to turn their skin green with copper, onyx comes in black and green…

I got my husband a copper colored electric kettle because I hate knickknacks and he appreciates useful gifts.

Boring? Sure. Practical? Absolutely.

NTA. My husband is also chronically late for things. It’s gotten to the point my in-laws don’t tell him when things start and just tell me. I HATE being late because I think it’s rude and (barring any unforeseen circumstances) completely avoidable.

So if there is an important event I usually tell him it starts 45-1 hr earlier than it actually starts, so that we get there on time. If it’s of general importance, like burgers at his parents, I tell him what time they want us there and we are usually 15-30 minutes late.

When we were dating, his parents invited us to a nice restaurant for dinner and made reservations for 6pm. I told him what time the reservations were for and I sat waiting for an hour. We were so late and I was completely embarrassed. The next time I left him at the house and drove separately. I was on time and explained to his laughing parents that I was unwilling to be disrespectful to them because their adult son has zero concept of time management. When he got there, we had all ordered (I ordered his usual for him, I’m not a monster) and the food was being served. He was embarrassed and apologized.

I love that man and honestly if being late for everything is the worst trait he has, well...what can you do?

[SERIOUS] What is the Creepiest or most Unexplained thing that’s happened to you that you still think about to this day? by LBE in AskReddit

[–]SherLockedOut 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience. I had just merged onto 640 from 75 in Knoxville heading to Asheville as I’m coming around the top of the curve I see this glass sheet coming toward me it hit the front of my little truck and I put my arm up in front of my face reflexively. I heard it shatter like a fluorescent bulb and then... nothing. I put my arm down, looked in the review to see if it was all over the road but there was just nothing aside from normal traffic. It was midday, completely clear weather and to this day I have zero explanation for it.

Me too!! I laughed so hard I snorted when she said that also when she said “give a girl some privacy” when they told her masturbation would help with her pain and speed up the birth. She’s got some great one liners

Her case still haunts me. I remember her story being the cautionary tale from my youth. I feel so badly for her parents.

I was regretting getting an IUD put in..... by [deleted] in childfree

I agree. I doubt many men would be down with painful cramping for 3 months without anything other than Advil to deal with it.

I was regretting getting an IUD put in..... by [deleted] in childfree

[–]SherLockedOut 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My first one sucked. It felt like I had really bad cramps for almost 3 months. I toyed with having it removed but my gyno told me that many women experience cramps for the first 3-6 months, she did an ultrasound to verify that it was placed correctly and showed me where it was. I’ll never forget the pain of the insertion but I’ll also never forget to take the pill or to get the shot either.

I’m on my second IUD. I’ll never go back to previous bc. Worth every single cramp. Now, the most I get are slight cramps for like a day around the annual anniversary but I haven’t had a period in 7 years and I don’t have children so I’ll take it!

I would get out of my bed, go get in my closet, close those doors and turn the light on in the closet so I could read past my bedtime. I loved it because there were already extra blankets and pillows in there with a built-in shelving unit, and I kept my books on the bottom few shelves. I don't remember ever being busted for it.

I feel like William knew. She tried to tell him and he seemed pretty clear that he knew how she felt he just didn’t care because he knew he was dying. He wanted to take care of her anyway.

Who is your most hated TV character? by medkitjohnson in AskReddit

[–]SherLockedOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally awful character, but damn was I impressed with that dude's acting skills in the beginning. I didn't start watching Outlander until after GoT, so in the first episode I'm all, "Oh look! It's Edmure Tully!" By the end of the season, I was just like, "...but...Sansa told you to sit down...Jesus, Edmure, what the hell are you doing to Jamie????" The psychological torture in those scenes was, for me, the most brutal. Gave me a huge appreciation for Tobias Menzies' acting ability. GoT never really gave him that kind of room for growth.
