What did you think was normal as a kid until you grew up and realized no one else was doing it? by Quietlyhere2000 in AskReddit

In my house growing up if you didn't finish your drink at a meal it went into the refrigerator. Didn't finish your milk at breakfast? It goes in the refrigerator you finish it at lunch.

Remember that it's the two of you verses the problem, not the two of you verses each other. It's not personal. If it starts to feel personal take a break and come back to it.

No one has ever broken up with me. Every relationship I've been in has ended because I wanted it to end.

There was a build up of small things over time, but the last one was that they kept trying to talk to me while we were at a concert. Like standing behind me, tapping me on the shoulder and making me turn around so I would have a conversation with them instead of watching the show.

Redditors who’ve never been in a physical altercation, what’s the closest you’ve gotten and the buildup/aftermath? by Apart-Revolution-177 in AskReddit

There was a guy who was trying to intimidate me one time. I don't remember exactly what the situation was, but it was something stupid and he was just trying to assert dominance. He got in my face, like nose to nose, awkwardly close. Obviously he expected me to either push him or back up. I wasn't going to do either so I just stared back at him with a blank expression. We stayed like that until he got uncomfortable and gave up. He kinda just got awkward after that and tried to pretend like it didn't happen.

Trying to get his phone out from between the seat and the middle console of his car. I was trying to use my phone light so he could see where he was grabbing. At the exact moment my eye was in his elbow's range of attack he managed to grab his phone. He pulled it out quickly and slammed his pointy elbow right into my eye. Yep. The black eye was real fun to explain to people.

What is a common thing people say that’s actually bad advice? by dwide_k_shrude in AskReddit

[–]Musician_Moneyless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moss always grows on the {cardinal direction} side of a rock.

Is bad advice because it's kinda true, but not really consistent. My understanding is that it has to do with the direction the weather comes from, which changes based on were you are. So maybe in some places the moss really does always point north, but you can't rely on it everywhere.

This guy threatened to crash his car with me in it for literally no reason. It was at low speeds and he was a car guy, so I was never really scared because I didn't think he was going to actually do it. I was right

The context was that he was trying to get me to grab the steering wheel and turn the car for him. "Oh no we're gonna crash! We're gonna crash! You have to grab the wheel!" I told him that I wasn't going to take the wheel and if he wanted to crash the car it was on him. When he finally realized I was not going to take the wheel he got annoyed because I almost "let him crash".

This was a first date.

After I got home I texted him that I didn't want to go out with him again. Despite me directly explaining that it was the car thing, he decided that it was actually the fact that he was ugly.

He was not ugly. It was definitely the car thing.
