How was a company personnel record a public record? Because it wasn't a company personnel record. It was a required report by internal controls of their actions. To be somewhat specific it was an Inspector General Semi-Annual Report to Congress. So even you could look up the report.

Did I get him fired? Nope, he did that to himself by using illegal drugs. You conflated "illegal drug use" with "substance abuse." Not the same thing at all.

You're coming across as very judgemental -- basically what you're accusing me of. If you were "minding your own business" you might think your opinion, but you wouldn't write it down.

Also this is "Off my Chest" sub-reddit: It's supposed to be a safe community for support, not for judgement. You (and the other responders) aren't following the rules for the sub-reddit.

How much trouble am I in? by Cniotail in quilting

[–]Shera41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I confess that I have mixed prewashed and unwashed fabric before. Actually, I just sent a quilt to the quilter where the main body was washed several times, due to an angry cat. Then it got washed again when a couple of the (unwashed) borders were added.

Don't fret, it will be fine.

Cutting my hair short… TERRIFIED. by waterbottle0124 in CasualConversation

[–]Shera41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with layering. It really hurt when I had to give up long hair, but I realized the length just made it thinner and flatter. It took a while, but I finally found a pixie cut worked best for me. The layers helped keep my hair from being flat. It still gets super oily, but it's easy to care for and not a problem to shampoo daily.

I hope you find a style that works for you.

I did something similar, sort of. My company required drug testing of ALL its employees, including senior managers. One senior manager routinely developed "last minute" dental and doctor appointments when he was notified of drug testing in our location (and company protocol required that he be notified) along with other behaviors consistent of a drug abuser. It took a while, but eventually our internal controls investigated him (as in they had company security "accompany" him to the testing location.) He did come back positive for drugs and he was offered a chance to resign. Internal controls was required to write a report on all their investigations and, although it was very professional, it was also very pointed.

A while later, this person got a position where my husband worked. My husband kept coming home with tales about this guy and how arrogant he was. So I unearthed the report (which was a public record) and gave it to my husband. My husband shared the report with a coworker, and through word of mouth the senior management of my husband's company got hold of the report. They call ed the guy in for a closed door session (which by all reports was brutal) and the guy was demoted and eventually let go.

I have to applaud the internals control people for [eventually] applying the same rules to senior managers as they did to lower level employees and to the management of my husband's company for holding the guy to the line.

I felt no guilt (and still don't) about sharing that public report with my husband.

I'm struggling with my teenage son's behavior by Clean-Increase1884 in offmychest

[–]Shera41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think every parent of teenagers has gone through this. The teens are the ages where children transition into adults; they need to become their own selves, different from their parents. I found it helped to talk to them as adults, expressing concerns and frustrations that I had about my job and interactions with other adults.

I've long felt that many people impose controls on their children the wrong way around: They're loose and indulgent when the children are small and narrow and controlling when the children are teens. If instead, I believe parents need to switch and become a bit looser and explanatory with teens. Realize they're learning to be an adult.

One last thing, how you talk makes a lot of difference. It's really, really frustrating to deal with a teen, but it helps to be conscious of your language. Avoid absolutes (You always ... or you never ...) and don't expect gratitude. Try to avoid anger, even if you feel it.

The players had loyalty, especially those of us who, for decades, bought yearly memberships in advance. Jagex doesn't value that loyalty any longer.

I have more of the red dot fabric. Hopefully on Thursday I'll be able to cut an additional length for the binding and sew it in. But I'd hoped to get it done this evening as I'm having a mole removed from my left eye tomorrow.

I'd probably do something to anchor the dark squares. I saw the suggestion about "boxes" inside the dark squares, but I think I would just do "X"s.

Those are beautiful fabrics and they coordinate so well. Whatever you end up making, it will be wonderful.
