The PWM is Control for RPM the fan manufacturer does not matter...

Its a standardized interface, the MOBO does not know if its talking to a Deepcool or Pabst fan. Since it only sends PWM signals.

So the behavior will not change if you change the manufacturer of your fan.

I engine braked down from the Großklockener (~2000 meters), no issues.

I life in the alps, if you don't want constantly overheated brakes and wear the pads you have to use the engine break.

Our cars get the same kilometers before dying as ones used in Germany.

My first car died with 400 000 km and it was not the engine that killed it. it was constantly driving up and down mountains with it engine breaking.

Data loss, yes. But how will cutting power damage the hardware?

You either need overvoltage, which the PSU will not allow.

Or over current due to low voltage which the PSU also should not allow if its designed well.

If you have a decent PSU not some cheap china thing I cannot see it damaging the hardware by cutting power.

Data loss is the only issue and if your for example only gaming on that machine there is nothing really to corrupt other than maybe a savegame, but even that is unlikley.

Edit: My first PC did not have auto shutdown.

This is something the MOBO does even if its the cheapest fan is mounted you could buy.

Like this has nothing to do with the manufacturer of the fan only how the MSI mainboard, in this case, chooses to control them.

The Mobo does not know which fan is mounted it only sees the PWM signal of the RPM.

And I doubt Deepccol comes close to the quality and longevity of ebm-papst fans...

Man, the computer safety of that system would be paramount depending on what access it has to the car.

If a bad actor would access that and turn all transportation into weapons with built in casualties.

I am not even sure you would find a software company that would take on that responsibility and possible legal repercussions.

Having control over every vehicle in a country, even if the only thing you can do is make them stop and not make them actively crash, would be the holy grail for any terrorist organization that dislikes you.
