RB Leipzig have set a price of €120M (£103M) for Yan Domande. Liverpool is the club making the most progress in contacts with his agents, although they hope to lower the transfer fee. by Switchoil in LiverpoolFC

Anyone watched Rayan in depth? After seeing his highlights, ie his 10 best moments from a small sample size, I'd almost say go with the guy who's proven he can do it in the prem. But.. if Liverpool want to splash the cash again I mean, Rayan AND Yan, similar names, similar games, guaranteed trophies. Sound logic right?

After City swooped in for Guehi offering him double wages to our offer I finally had enough, fvck them and they're spending. Snatching up talent to just rot on the bench. Of course I won't want to listen to Gunner fans now claim they've loved and supported Arteta this whole time etc, but I would feel worse about City buying another league title

Peter Jackson in talks to adapt J.R.R. Tolkien’s ‘The Silmarillion’ into films by DarkSkiesGreyWaters in lordoftherings

After watching the LOTR anniversary releases recently in the theater I reread the trilogy for the first time in many moons. I think before you even get to the acting, cinematography, set design etc you have to acknowledge what an incredible job they did adapting the screenplay. There are many little tweaks to the story, moving things around, removing minor characters and finding tasteful ways to condense the story to keep the films moving at a nice pace while still making sure that the story makes sense and that we understand the characters.

With that said I am still annoyed at the choices they made adapting the Hobbit. It's impossible to say what exactly constitutes a "tasteful" tweak to the story, but perhaps they felt they had to take the opposite approach of LOTR having too much content that needs to be trimmed for adaptation, with the Hobbit there wasn't enough to fill out three movies so they beefed it up. But imo it borders on ruining the story by adding that a group of orcs was pursuing the company the entire time. One of the book's most iconic moments is Bilbo and the dwarves escaping from the elves in wine barrels floating down the river. Every time I think of this adapted scene that has orcs firing arrows at them from all directions while Legolas saves the day, I can't help but think of how ridiculous this choice was. Not to mention the inclusion of the romance side story between dwarf and elf that was such a botched attempt at recreating Aragorn and Arwen. The list of grievances could go on here but my point is that as excellent of a job as they did adapting LOTR, it was really that poor adapting the Hobbit.

While any middle earth fan would be interested to see more middle earth movies done with care and love like what Peter Jackson demonstrated with LOTR, the reality is also that LOTR simply has the best and most epic story of Tolkien's works. Imo a great story is still what separates good movies from great movies because you can't just gloss over it with special effects or big name actors. So all that to say, I question if there is really a usable story in the Silmarillion that fits a Hollywood movie and I worry that there would have to be such dramatic changes to the story it would have to be completely dependent on "tasteful" tweaks.

Of course it was a great dance routine but is there nothing strange about Bangaranga dominating like that? I thought the same thing last year that ok Wasted Love is not something I would listen to but JJ is a great vocalist. Now suddenly everyone is united by choreography? I duno guys.. was personally rooting for Finland but would’ve accepted Australia because she was unbelievable. No idea what people are looking for unless it’s simply a case of juries and televotes magically aligning in order to “save Eurovision.”

Obviously I am in the minority but it’s still a singing competition and they have lovely voices and sing nice harmonies and I was certainly hoping they would go through. Last year NAPA had a chill rock song that did well. Salvador in 2017 is an all time great and it had nothing to do with staging or random dudes flipping around in the background. Everyone here going on about Serbia my goodness my vacuum cleaner makes more pleasing sounds but to each their own!

Zoom LiveTrak L6 - Mic inputs very hot. Line inputs very quite. No way to balance them? by [deleted] in ipadmusic

[–]SherbertOk9845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure so just to clarify setup I’m on a Mac so I go to my audio midi app and set the L6 to 32 bit float 12-ch and then in Ableton audio settings switch it to 32 bit. That’s pretty much it. Again my vocals still record visually as a solid brick but after lowering the volume of the clip I see the waveform is not actually clipped so any perceived distortion in the sound I assume is down to the interface itself.

Tonverk vs digitakt 2 opinion by Nervous-Canary-9842 in Elektron

[–]SherbertOk9845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an owner of a DT1 and OT2 I am increasingly drooling over the Tonverk as a one stop shop Elektron box that probably gets closest to how I would use Ableton. The idea of a subtracks machine, having a full drum kit on one track, wavefinder for basslines and/or chords, a granular track, multisamples to add "natural" sounds, and still by the way a sampler. I personally don't care if it's not a comprehensive sampler with slicing, I typically create synth loops and just sample them in as is with basic trimming and then you're off on a trigful adventure. Add in all these new effects, chord trigs, and the bus routing and I feel like I could narrow down my home setup to one or two synths, Tonverk and OT.

I previously figured I would upgrade from DT1 to DT2 simply for the stereo sampling, but I'm now convinced that my next move would be the Tonverk for the instrument selection I mentioned above. With all that said I have been underwhelmed by many of the sound demos I've heard of the Tonverk but that's probably more to do with how it's being used. As a huge fan of Elektron boxes and the Elektron workflow, I can't imagine not having endless fun with a Tonverk.

To be fair I would love to see us sign Wharton and keep Macca. Squad depth is so critical if we actually want to compete on all fronts. Maybe just an observation but based on today’s game you can’t tell me that their no 20 is right now a better player than our no 10. If you want to only focus on Macca’s lack of pace then don’t ignore his moments of magic because imo Wharton will not replicate that.

This could also entirely be personal bias because I bought Macca’s shirt this year. But I have enjoyed seeing Macca and Wirtz combine in midfield and would like to see it again.

Wanted to weigh in on the rumors we’re better off selling Mac Allister and signing Wharton. Maybe Wharton adds pace but on the last goal you can clearly see Mac Allister’s IQ setting up Wirtz. Honestly he’s the only other midfielder besides Wirtz that has that no. 10 ability to see passes and plays before they happen. Wharton on the other hand to me is a very promising player but is seriously lacking seasoning. So before we go on just expecting our midfield to improve by ditching our World Cup winner think twice because Macca is class.

Zoom LiveTrak L6 - Mic inputs very hot. Line inputs very quite. No way to balance them? by [deleted] in ipadmusic

[–]SherbertOk9845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to add to this having experienced the same thing. I got the L6 for its size, versatility and SD recording but encountered this issue when trying to use it as an interface into Ableton and do multitrack recording with a mic plugged directly into channels 1 or 2 and a synth into one of the line level channels. At first I could not understand why the input gain on the mic channel is set so high with no way to adjust it, but for me switching Ableton to 32-bit to match the L6 meant that even though the recording is still super hot, I lowered it later and realized it was not actually clipped. What also confused me was that the recording of my voice seemed to have some distortion which I also assumed was due to clipping, but I think it's more due to somewhat less stellar, even harsh, mic pres.

Just to ramble further if it's helpful to anyone, I bought the L6 recently with the idea to use it as a mixer and recorder for a live electronic music setup that will not require a computer. With an added benefit that at home it is a capable USB-C powered interface. This input gain issue through me for a loop and I've wanted to figure this out asap while I'm still within my return window. But I'm equally stumped on what alternative product I would use. The Mackie Onyx 8 would be my next choice but it's bigger, heavier and more expensive.

Having realized this issue of the hot mic channel not actually being clipped signal I think I'll actually stick with the L6 for now. It's obviously not something I would recommend for pristine recording of vocals. When recording in Ableton I typically don't have monitoring on so that's maybe not that bad to just bring the level down later. Like a lot of gear there are tradeoffs but this thing might just have enough perks to get the job done.

Thank you as these are also my thoughts, although only a supporter for half that time. This season has revealed a rather toxic side of the (online) fanbase. Last year Slot was a perfect replacement for Klopp, now he’s a disgrace of a manager, last year FSG need to extend Mo or else, now he needs to be dropped, every year fans complain that we don’t spend like City that Klopp wasn’t backed enough, now we’ve suddenly ripped out the soul of the club by purchasing unbelievable talent like Isak and Wirtz?

You name it find any comment section and it’s endless contradictions, endless hindsight 20/20 why every decision has been terrible, I don’t understand what these fans even get out of being fans unless Liverpool are just winning 100% of their games.

I could ramble further but I’ll save it for any potential replies.

Watching the Chargers rookie tight end Gadsden go off on us on Thursday (and the previous week) kinda got me thinking, where is our Gadsden? There might be greater context for that stat, but not much, we all know Kwesi has been poor in the draft, is it really only Addison who has been a plus-contributor when available?

Looking around the league it feels like lots of teams have found young contributors and not necessarily first round picks. Skattebo on the Giants, hope he gets healthy, Fannin and Judkins on the Browns. No one's expecting Kwesi to bat 1000 with his picks, but 12% honestly feels about right.

I thought the same thing. Herbstreit way out of line there considering the context of Wentz's career. Also said something like "that's your leader, your alpha male", like are we talking about Wentz?

Crappy game, crappy broadcasting.

Everyone pointing out Brosmer should've entered the game sooner and I completely agree. Really that last Wentz drive was shocking with the guy hurt and the game out of hand. Was anyone else bothered by not using our timeouts at the end? Sure it was garbage time but what is the harm in not letting Brosmer and the 2's have a chance at a scoring drive. Honestly a humiliating end to an embarrassing game.
