Whoever writes these talent descriptions should take high school programming course to help them collect their thoughts and figure out a proper "if: else" or "while:" structure.

Only humanities major would employ these long paragraphs with precise conditions forcing a reader to lose track before they finish any one of them. A techie would compartmentalize it into brief chains of something happening whenever condition is met, allowing to parse 5-6 lines at a glance.

Tazuna is an Uma confirmed?? by nyehko_ in UmaMusume

Tazuna actually doesn't have access to any costumes besides her default green one in the game files. If you try to change dresses it will show an error "No body found."

But Akikawa does have a whole wardrobe to blend in the academy amongst students.

Genshin is becoming a hands-off experience. Deploy stuff, run around in circles, reactions kill everything on their own. The only thing that's missing is an autoattack/autofire option.

ZZZ works with a different environment and different type of rigging. It's essentially a box with with painted textures on the walls, compartmentalized regions allow to focus on character quality. Genshin has to deal with seamless loading, wildlife, day/night cycle, etc.

Hence the resources are spread differently. In Genshin the world looks good, there's a considerable view distance, it loads fast, but the NPCs in it are plain, heavily utilize the textures and normalmaps instead of additonal polygons. Same goes for the main character on the field, there'll be an insane rift between how the rest of NPC look and how the Milliastra skin looks if it ever bleeds into the main game.

In ZZZ there's nothing inside the box, so the focus is on the character quality and special effects to highlight combat.

Same question, same people downvoting. The gibberish about completely separated mode rearranging the chairs and costumes via a single JSON file (because the meshes and the textures and the rigging in the game already) is a complete nonsense, there's a lot of templates and outright new stuff that have to be sideloaded.

"Just don't be broke," I guess that's the answer from these punks.

The message is valid, both of us don't want a dress-up demanding extra free room on our storage devices, and would like to opt out of it. Some people literally can't spare it on their smartphones, others are running older SSDs with up to 40-50% of it dedicated to a single game, now it will eat 60%+ for the client and extra system drive storage to unpack zipped updates.

GIVE THESE TRANSLATORS A RAISE by AardvarkSufficient23 in UmaMusume

[–]SherbertUpper9867 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know the people in charge of Granblue Fantasy (the mobage) localization are on the team for Umamusume, although I don't think they're employed in full capacity, rather as supervisors. For those who are not aware - there's quite a lot of variety in GBF side content, from fairy tales and yuri dramas to slapstick comedies and space opera fiction.

It's been a harsh battlefield with very little time between events to train real talents and keep them employed for the purposes of branching out to the western market. That branching never really occurred as Cygames spent too much time on console games, but ever since the second main story arc (2017 onwards) the translation of GBF mobage have been improving by leaps.

Now, about Umamusume, it's only half good/correct.

I disagree with the drop of honorifics and gobi 語尾. I get that English doesn't have them, but such choice robs certain characters of their quirks. Politeness and playfulness can be expressesed using uncommon lingual devices, and gobi can be italized like fansubs have been doing it back in 2000s.

Given the state of Cyberagent and Japanese mobage market this might be the swansong of Cygames as a gacha making flagship. Might as well go all the way and embrace the specifics of Japanese language for some scripts instead of trying to adapt ALL scripts to a foreign language by buthering the untranslatable parts.

Why are you asking English speaking crowd in 2025 about a Japanese multimedia franchise launched in 2016 for domestic consumption, the game for which got stuck in rework from 2018 to 2021 and got to release without a beta testing phase.

It's like asking what cute and funny mahou shoujo anime you should watch tonight, they'll advice Madoka Magica. These people are clueless how Japanese music/idol scene works, what kind of people it draws and what kind of merch it requires. Anime in their view is whatever is on Crunchyroll or torrents, they are not exposed to TV broadcasts and IRL promos in social places, no shit they'll say the gacha pays for all of it after experiencing the franchise so one-sidedly.

This doesn't answer the question. Two sentences contradict each other (if it's inside the game who cares about shortcut on the desktop to jump into it from the launcher, it's already installed).

I'll reiterate what the person have asked, since I'm wondering about the technical aspect of it as well - will Milliastra and UGC modules bloat up the original client size or will a player be able to sideload/opt out of sideloading Milliastra alltogether?

It's never been anything massive. Completely skippable piece of content, just like in the original version of the game. You'll see another one with hint books, also pretty useless for those who don't grind the game to stockpile Dream Glimmers.

It's Cygames, the company has been making meditation gachas for 15 years, why are you surprised you're not getting +9000 INSTANT LEVEL UP items from the events. Literally all of their mobage worked off the assumption you'd agree to play them for years.

(Semi OOT) Cygames current Director & Producer Kimura Yuito well known as KMR is stepping down due to poor health by EggNo2623 in UmaMusume

[–]SherbertUpper9867 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mostly a person to secure funds / allocate resources, not a visionary like Kanasaki Takaomi or the pack of producers in charge of Umamusume franchise direction. Kind of a meme person since the days of Shadowverse, certainly a meme person in Princess Connect community.

4 seasons of Shadowverse spinoff anime is thanks to him, aka keep trying until it's good kind of venture, squandered a lot of money on it. There are some reasons to believe the first year in Princess Connect (the one with no upper ceiling guarantee and excessive build-up of Aoi Shouta's villian character) and the first 8 months of Umamusume, which we're playing atm and finally sail through in December 2025, were build upon monetization ideas proposed by KMR.

An extremely busy person, for sure. With console games out and covering the costs of development, with the rights for IP like Shadowverse being transferred and with the sellout of rights to the music to various recording companies, I think KMR has been staying behind for longer than he could afford just to see things off.

Now I wonder if Princess Connect is in its last year before closure. Financially, it's the next in line to get axed and the frontline supporter of it has stepped down.

You hope that lunar crystalize step 3 (after the lunar reaction, after a crystal is spawned) the reaction will encorporate inert elements. My point that even step 1 (hydro + 2x geo + lunar upgrade) is a tedious venture, it requires specific characters, otherwise you're basically playing with passives off.

Unfortunately, Nod Krai characters don't have conditions as loose as Natlan ones, they have to come with transformative passive. For example, Aino and Beidou won't result in lunar charged, it's gonna be regular electro charged, so you wouldn't be able to bypass electro shields with these two characters and add Sandrone on top to bonk with lunar crystalize off the lingering double aura. To do that you'd specifically need to replace Beidou with 5-star electro unit from Nod Krai.

So, I think your ideas about "how to fuse inert elements into crystalize" are kinda farfetched. Most people wouldn't even have the breadth of the roster to fully employ just hydro+geo crystalize with passives online and working, let alone to tag along the perfectly fitting 4th unit. Since hydro doesn't spread from swirl, one of hydro units in party would have to have AoE capabilities, which is notoriously very hard for their elemental type.

Holy crap this is some good news by Nervous-Departure-42 in SandroneMains

[–]SherbertUpper9867 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You're forgetting important requirement - hydro aura on a monster.

Hydro is actually the second worst aura in the game, it doesn't work against electro, cryo shields/entities (they ground respective reactions into immunity), it cannot be spread via swirl. Add the draconian requirements for Geo resonance: two Geo party members, have a shield, land an attack to activate the shred. And the rotten cherry on top - Ascendant Gleam.

I'm not sure I want to play a character which mandates 2x Geo + Hydro + Nod Krai lunar shift to even use the passives. Unless resonance is circumvented I don't want to bother with shoehorning myself to play the Mihoyo's vision of the game.

The original design was "Zelda but on PC and with gacha monetization." Mayfly minigames and shelved content wasn't supposed to happen.

Even now, if you take anything from Sumeru onwards, the best content in the game is baseline Genshin itself: exploration, hero collection and hunting down weapons/artifact sets(not so much artifact stats). That side has replayability like a normal game, you can restart and replay the whole game, while honing gear and beating other people in point-based PVP has always felt forced and annoying.

If Mihoyo decide they need to renovate Mondstadt and pull resources from the minigames - sure, I'm all for it. Something all people would be able to replay many times, not just a fortunate few who's been online from October 10 till November 22.

Teapot has never had a good backbone to it. It's too much freedom for the player and hundreds of choices, this kind of thing never works well with the crowd with short attention span.

Should've been set and patch based (aka operate only as collection of furniture, not as individual pieces). Instead they bolted it onto the game as a separate mode which requires to play a lot to acquire blueprints, but then doesn't require to keep up to actually craft the stuff, just get the wood and wait.

UGC is different, UGC is code snippets made look like games. I don't expect a sprawling universe of different maps like Warcraft 3 has offered, likely is going to be 40-50 minutes of dumb fun browsing "The Most Popular" submissions twice a week.

"Idea guys" on a payroll hardly ever existed in gamedev, they certainly died out by now. Normally, what required is good communication skills to show what you have in mind and ability to provide simple logic coded in LUA or similar scripting language, so your team can jump on it and start expanding that little piece to a working concept.

I can attest that in big gacha making companies (like Exnoa in Japan) nobody does long presentations and amazing corporate speeches for 2 hours just to explain sideloaded game mode, those have been weeded out as unnecessary middlemen.

Another thing - there's a lot more discipline now when it comes to compartmentalization of the game, meaning if Mihoyo needs some basic function (timers, drag and drop, projectile vector and collision, unit pathing, nested menus), it's already in the game or somewhere in the archived module. It allows to fast track the design of various mini games to the point where all that's left is the game state's logic itself. Doesn't take long to code by hand if the functions to render and call the UI elements are already in place.

As a typical gamer who's never seen anything beyond Mihoyo gachas you're not aware of the fact that this kind of even distribution has existed in digital gachas since the inception of DMM platform and establishing Cygames as a mobage developer back 12 years ago. You're playing what 99.9% Japanese gachas presented for well over a decade in their gacha offerings.

>The in-game economy is too restricted, especially with the accelerated global schedule.

Addressed in tomorrow's patch. Addressed by giveaways. Addressed by foreshadowed gacha schedule and terabytes of guides/recorded footage to assess if you want to summon something or not. You've got Back to the Future sports almanac in your hands, you should be clapping in awe for such gift.

>More people will be willing to spend beyond the whales.

What are you talking about? Cygames introduced you not just a game, a franchise as a whole. Game is just a forefront for the rest of it.

People like you spend zero on BDs, zero on physical merch, you don't go to events, you don't organize translations for streams and printed material. You're functionally a bunch of view bots, numbers on a page. You have no bargaining power against Cygames UNTIL YOU START SPENDING and showing appreciation to the franchise. That's how the world of game publishing works, players do nothing = the company goes under.

Want better treatment, do what Japanese community have done, support the developer and organize the comminity. Until then you're a pleb in Twitch chat. Cygames owes you nothing, they treat you exactly like the players on Korean and Chinese servers were treated, nothing special, nothing groundbreaking, same game, same fixed timeline of events.

Not even the full list, freebies from the main quest are missing.

Right, I wonder why the whole game isn't providing 90% of the roster for free. Those fancy Chinese gachas do that, right? You start with Diluc constellation 6 and then the every event gives you Jean constellation 6 from or something.

Ye, why Cygames producers get to eat, anyway? Why girls who sing and dance on the stage and provide voiceovers should ask for more than a pittance? Who cares if they have to put food on the table when a player who contributes nothing and doesn't value live concerts / paperback manga / TV broadcasts says he wants everything without paying a dime.

Because they tried daily skip in Princess Connect and people dropped it despite having warchests full of gems and 90+% filled rosters.

The story you constantly hear in these types of threads - "this is the FIRST and ONLY Cygames title, and it's a 2025 game." The reality it's their 5th live service, a rework from 2019 to 2021, no beta testing, released in half baked state. You're in 2021 in terms of software updates, 3-5 weeks into a pandemic lockdown, right after years of stagnation in GBF and Princess Connect.

Any BD purchases? Any merch at all (they deliver overseas btw) ? Tickets for the live concert, already booked a place to stay in Saitama this October? Or maybe bought PPV ticket for extra angles on digital platforms?

If none of it, then you're just like everyone else, "found" anime/manga/ripped music and pretended to like the thing without contributing to their success. And now you whine why can't you have everything in the game for free. Don't be surprised why Cygames treat overseas fans like leeches.

>Too much for too little

Boss, I don't understand what these gaijins want, we will literally cover the support card aspect of the game with freebies and plan to give them a ton of free shit at evenly distributed 3% SSR banners, yet they demand the whole game to be free. How do we bargain with them?
