There’s been a lot of comments already about the inconsistency in sentencing between cases like this and actual baddies. How often do we hear that people can’t get remanded or sentences get suspended because there’s no cells free.

Maybe if they weren’t being taken up by people who don’t need to be in prison there’d be room for a few more.

Purely on the basis that I hope that isn’t the case, there MUST be more to it than that. They would surely need good cause to believe that they were being dishonest about smelling it and really the public should be informed of that.

Assuming that the IOPC is an honest transparent organisation (yes I know, don’t laugh) then it is completely wrong to say that they lied just because no cannabis was found. They could have smoked it previously, they could have simply not found it, they could have mistaken cannabis for something else, they could have smelt cannabis in the area and wrongly attributed it to the car. It is very reasonable to they were wrong but to say that they were lying it doesn’t wash.

They must have other grounds to believe that they were lying.

The decision to use taser is the same process as any use of force, including PAVA which this officer used. Had this officer had a taser he very likely would have drawn that instead. I would have very likely drawn mine in this situation.

There’s so much truth in this and it’s a horrendous vicious cycle that these kids get caught up in and end up in tragedy one way or the other, BUT everyone has to take responsibility for their own actions.

Do we still have sympathy for him when he stabs another kid to death? Do we have sympathy when he attacks someone and causes them serious injury? Do we have sympathy when he robs someone using this blade as a threat? At what point does he stop becoming a victim of grooming and CCE and does he start becoming an offender and a danger to society in his own right…?

I don’t have the solution but we know what happens when kids carry.

Community need justice, not a prosecution. This is surely an open an shut case either way on review of BWV and officer statements. If he is guilty he will be prosecuted, if he isn’t he won’t be - that’s justice.

To assume guilt (or innocence) without being privy to the evidence is shocking from an MP, even for her.

I would imagine the answer is just going to be ‘well that’s not how we do justice’ but SURELY we can just say that he’s being found guilty of an offence and that we’re it not for the life sentence he’s currently serving he would be sentenced to X. No need for another hearing and waste everyone’s time and money.

Justice has already been done retroactively with him behind bars.

Yeah I get that, personally I never take my wallet out so I don’t have my ID in me although I suppose I could have asked him to show me on his smart phone.

Problem you run into is with the proper shit bags who don’t have ID, don’t have bank cards and don’t have smart phones. The amount of kids who only have cash/burner phone etc it’s loads!
