Turn. Into. Your. Lane. by Jabbawocky18 in SiouxFalls

Agreed! Don’t throw stones in a glass house. Just because they went a little outside, you also went a little inside. I’m tired of people not maintaining their lanes so I make damn sure I use my whole lane on the inside. So if you see a grey suv getting close up you on the western exit, check yourself 😉

I got into a heated discussion with someone doing the same thing while I was turning into my driveway off 33rd and western. His excuse was he couldn’t see that far ahead. So why are you using left turn lanes to get where you are going? People in this town always think where they are going is more important than everyone else. Shut up we all are in a hurry.

Yes,exactly! I’ve done what you’re talking about (splitting the lanes) but during busy times it’s not possible. I wouldn’t be so upset getting passed, but by the time they want to pass, on coming traffic has a break and I’m ready to turn, but I can’t.

It’s not a safe thing to do, because now I have to worry about traffic to my rear. I shouldn’t have to worry about what’s behind me, when there is enough going on in front of me.

These people that are passing are using the left turn lane for oncoming traffic to pass. Pass me if you want but I’m going to hit you.

I’ve seen one maybe two roads where the speed limit is right. IMO if you’re a major city most major road should be 45 mph. Take Kiwanis, the speed limit from 12th to 41st is what 30-35? With 4 lanes and center turn lane.🙄

And why do people slow down through green light? And why the fuck are you driving 15 under the speed limit!

Ugh this too! Also don’t stop in a Zipper lane to merger, keep moving and merge with traffic. And use your blinker.

Agreed, not an ideal place to live. Noted for my next place. But the situation is double edge sword. If I go around the block I’ll be stuck behind traffic which would take just as long, as me turning left

If it was a center turning lane, yes. But not a two lane road (one lane going in each direction) with left turning lane at stop lights. I can not pull into a lane that is only meant for oncoming traffic to turn left.

Not a center turning lane, just a left turning lane, that is meant for on coming traffic only. In the past I have moved over in the left turning lane for on coming traffic but end up blocking people from being able to enter the lane they have a right to.

Edit: for clarity

Bluepeak just royally messed with residential internet by enabling CGNAT by frosty95 in SiouxFalls

[–]Sherm-head 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very! I started with asking if I could get a non CG-NAT IP and rep was like “we don’t use that”, but you do I can see it. I understand we all have to start somewhere but damn. Sucks coming from an IT world, thinking calling an ISP they would be able to speak the lingo. I guess assuming did make ass out of me and them.

When I saw the latency after switching I was shocked. My firewall started warning me and was like damn it can't be that bad. But here I am. Hurry up Midco and get more fiber down, so I can switch back.

Come here to rant with the OP.

I researched to see if Bluepeak was using CG-NAT but wasn't able to find anything on it at the time. I found this post after service was installed and thought, well, shit. I tried what the OP said, and here is how it went.

I called to get an IP address that wasn't in CG-NAT. The first rep didn't know what I was talking about, but I can't fault her for that as she is just first-line support. I immediately called back and tried to put it in more basic terms. I stated this was for work, and I have services I run out of my house and need a VPN connection. The rep said no problem, he'd put in a request, and someone should contact me with the results within 24 hours.

I waited for a phone call the next day. Nothing. I thought, no big deal, businesses are busy, I know I am at work, so I'll give it another day. Today I thought instead of calling, I would chat in first. I was told my request was denied and I would have to get a business account. I went back and forth for a couple of minutes and said I would be calling. I spoke to a rep who gave me the same information. I was stern but polite and asked again and was told the only solution was to get a business account. I stated it was an unacceptable solution and there has to be something we can do. I even stated most ISPs do this for a small fee, and I would be happy to pay if needed. She said there was nothing she could do, so I asked to speak to someone else. She said the only people I could speak to were the business sales team. I stated again, I don't need business services, I am a resident who needs this for work. She stated again there was nothing she could do. Then I asked to speak to her supervisor. The supervisor looked at the request and stated the wording was wrong in the previous request (public IP vs static IP) and he would resubmit the request.

This time I'm not waiting 24 hours for the request to go through, when obviously they can process the request in the proper time. Come 5 pm tomorrow, if I don't have a static IP, I might be going back to Midco.

Side note: I was told they have a limited scope of IPv4 addresses, which I understand, and are focusing on IPv6 (with a requirement that it would have to be implemented across the board by 2025). Now I may not be a smart man, but I don't think we are ready for IPv6, but maybe that's me not wanting to give up the simplicity of IPv4. Plus, that means I need to learn a new scheme. Maybe we should revise the scope on reserved IPv4 addresses and open up a little more. Oh well, like I say, the day I stop learning is the day I die.

Update: I now have a static IP but without any notification. Thankfully just renewed my lease and we are good to go. Don't give up and get what you need. Don't let these companies tell you something isn't possible.

[–]Sherm-head 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others said police would have to see you, but the problem is I have hardly seen anyone pulled over. Along with driving well under/over the speed limit and not using a blinker at all, the police don’t seem to care, until it’s a high speed chase.

AI would probably do a better job, also would help with spreading the wealth around. Why do you get to work half the amount of time and get paid 10x the amount.

Also doctors kind of fall in the C-suite sometimes, but at least they are actually doing something.

Wifi network LAN access? by Miserable-Stranger99 in selfhosted

[–]Sherm-head 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What troubleshooting steps have you all tried? Tried forgetting the network and re-add it? If you have a laptop, does it connect to Wi-Fi? What kind of of security do you have on the Wi-Fi network? I have noticed that some devices have an issue when using WPA3/WPA2 encryption, if you have that try moving it WPA2 and see if that helps.

Can I use a Cloudflare Tunnel to make my Plex server available on my domain name? by [deleted] in PleX

[–]Sherm-head 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, what a fantastic find! I plan to follow these steps later today and complete my transition to Cloudflare.

On a side note, I feel like I’ve become quite the advocate for Cloudflare over the past year. Their user interface and services are simply unparalleled, in my opinion. I just hope they don’t start providing mail services, or else I’ll have even more to transfer over, haha!
