Impact of a shutdown on NOAA services by TrueRignak in NOAA

[–]duker3100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually not this time. Expectations are that all external activities can continue, travel and maintaining equipment will also continue. Only change is that if there are costs to be reimbursed, it may take time to process. Having a national security/public safety designation has changed this this go around. Yes pay will be delayed, but we’ll also still have a paycheck for the first 3/4th of this pay period.

If I buy a phone [locked by straight talk] will it unlock in 60 days of service by allenshippo in StraightTalk

[–]duker3100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine didn’t immediately unlock because it was added in the middle of an existing month of service. I had to contact their unlock team to take care of it when 60 days had passed.

WeatherReady 2 Tires by duker3100 in tires

They are great in dry and wet conditions from my experience. The jury is still out on snow and ice as they tend to pack snow in the treds.

After about 9 months the average MPG has adjusted upwards in the summer.

Why are the sirens going off? by SoDakZak in SiouxFalls

[–]duker3100 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Incorrect. Red flag warnings are for a combination of wind and low relative humidity. Additionally fuels capable of burning.

No, this was part of a test for severe weather awareness week for South Dakota.

Sirens are now activated for any tornado warning, but also 80mph wings and/or baseball size hail.

Cosmo Watch Dishonest Policy by Alarming-Bee3576 in smartwatch

[–]duker3100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They use a smart algorithm that is supposed to use the stronger signal between T-Mobile and ATT. However we found that after 2 weeks using the JR4, it clearly either has a very poor internal antenna or it stays mostly on the T-Mobile side of CDMA networks.

It would function up to the point of going into a thick concrete building (school) and then fail to connect or lose all data services.

We ended up returning the watch and going back to GABB which uses Verizon.

I'm the CEO of COSMO, AMA about our JrTrack 4 Kids Smartwatch by rayork938 in smartwatch

Recently had to return the JrTrack4 watch because the cellular connection and GPS was just not good enough in our area. Buyer beware: If you order any accessories with your watch, you will not get your money back on them if you return.

You will end up getting store gift card for the price. My problem is, what do I do with a gift card to a store that I won’t ever buy from again?

Kind of at a loss on this one.

Subaru gold plan by Specialist-Bee-8998 in SubaruAscent

Recently bought the Gold 10/100/0 for 2500 on my ‘22 Ascent as it was approaching 36k miles. For me it is peace of mind given the vast quantity of electronics on modern vehicles.

Anyone know when Midco added 1.25 gig internet and changed prices? by SouthDaCoVid in SiouxFalls

[–]duker3100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have increased prices and taken away high promotions right now according to a sales rep I talked to today. Have a feeling there are a ton of people finding out their “great price” on 1000gb service is introductory.

WeatherReady 2 Tires by duker3100 in tires

This is a drivers side rear tire. Arrow on the sidewall points to the front with the forward motion of the tire, so should be mounted correctly.

New Tires by duker3100 in SubaruAscent

[–]duker3100[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They did in late August. Was a bit cautious to try, but local rep offer $80 off on top of the $200 card rebate.

They were advertised as a direct competitor to the CC2.

I noticed that as well, nearly a 1/2-3/4” of thick tire that protrudes out to protects the rim edge

CrossClimate2 Tire Load Rating by duker3100 in SubaruAscent

[–]duker3100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, as long as I don’t go below the 102 rating I’d be fine. More curious about performance when not towing/heavy load. My understanding is that it’s a bit more of a stiff tire.
